had an interesting segment on his radio show, where he basically said he could understand firing 75% of the coaches, as well as understand keeping 75% of the coaches. If you take out the 25% that did wonders this year (Belichick, Rivera, etc..) and the 25% that did horrible (Whisenhunt, Pettine), you end up with a soft 50% in which either decision can be reasonably justified. Nothing wrong with seeking an extra year to gather information about a coach. After Lombardi was fired, the offense took off. Caldwell should get credit for hiring Cooter, as well as getting blame for hiring Lombardi..

He did well enough once they changed OCs; he's not an amazing coach, but looking around I'm not sure there is a marked improvement available, and continuity should count for something.

I think he's the most overrated HC in football. Aaron Rodgers and the woeful NFC North is keeping that guy employed.
