What the Hell is Up at Scout, Sign of Things to Come for Paysites?
So...Scout writers have been sending out blasts on Twitter that they are giving away 9 months of subscription for the price of one. 9!
Obviously business can't be booming over there. Does this mean the pay-for-content business model with regards to recruiting is on its way out?
Mad flurry at end of flash sale has prompted an extension! 9 Months for Price of 1 Deal EXTENDED until midnight - http://t.co/Drv7Z0F3aa

Yeah I certainly wasn't trying to brag about how much money I make. Just trying to make a simple point that you're not a complete loser if you have a Scout subscription.

We are far from the only country where talking about income is considered beyond the pale. In fact, there are countries where even your occupation is viewed as a private matter.

I guide on the MIssouri, the Blackfoot, and the Yellowstone mostly. It's a low water year so far; so come early (late June-early July) if you can!

I just signed up for the 9 dollar/3 months deal; and I'm not sure I'd do it again. I was just curious about possibly getting more info close to signing day. I'll be cancelling it after NSD.
But again, I don't think life reevaluation is in order.

I disagree. You take things far too serious. Enjoy your recruiting info

While I agree that there's nothing wrong with paying for Scout, nobody cares about how much you make, how many days you work, or how frequently you go skiing. Detailing all of that makes you sound very insecure.

I'll just wait to see the results on the field before I get excited about recruiting again. Hoke did a tremendous job getting me hyped up after his first full recruiting class(remember him landing all those 4/5 star offensive linemen), but in the end it was all for nothing.

They seem desperate for new membership.
February 1st, 2015 at 7:14 AM ^
They are not necessarily desperate. It is like other subscription services (e.g. cable, DirecTV. ect.) where they hook you with cheap introductory rates, get your credit card information, and hope that your don't take the time to cancel when introductory pricing ends/regular pricing begins.
The cost of adding a subscriber is minimal and the incremental revenue they receive is nearly pure profit.

I'm on Scout, Its $8 a month for me. I think this is the best Michigan site but I like the Scout message board better and thats why I pay. I could very well cancel but yet I find myself reading that message board every day.
Just curious, I was on Rivals for a year and ESPN but never 247. How does 247 compare to Scout?
