OT: Dennis Dixon may start for Steelers this weekend

The Steelers normal backup, Charlie Batch (yeah, he's still playing) hurt his wrist a few weeks ago and just had surgery on it. Personally, I hope Dixon tears it up, because everyone's already writing him off.

I hope this turns into an unmitigated disaster for the 'Stillers' and I can stop seeing 45 damn jerseys a day.

Steelers fans are just like Ohio State fans and mothers-in-law: abundant and slightly annoying. The only difference is that Steelers fans (and mothers) weren't conceived in the 4th circle of Dante's Inferno.

The 4th circle would be the prodigal and miserly pushing a large stone at each other... I'm thinking more 8th circle: falsifiers, simonists/nepotists, the corrupt, and alchemists, living in excrement and flame. Or maybe the 6th circle, with heretics living in smoking tombs.

Coincidentally, as soon as I wrote that post, I started thinking that one of the other eight circles would be more apropos. Thank you, ma'am, for serving that role. :)

....how are they abundant? I mean, you can only have one at a time.

Obviously you're not from Utah...

steelers fans are slightly annoying purely because they travel EVERYWHERE, just like a college team but I actually respect them for that.
but god, no fans are worse than the boston red sox. i hate hate hate hate hate hate that city but their fans even more so.

If only it was about having to deal with them traveling. I have to live in Pittsburgh.

Batch is all but done for the year after the wrist injury he sustained when he came in for Ben last week.

Big Ben is definitely out (according to ESPN, so take it with a grain of salt) so, Dixon will start for the Steelers.

Always liked Dixon when he played at Oregon. He was a heisman threat and they had a shot to go to the National Title before he got hurt a few times late in the season. I hate the steelers, but I hope he does well.

Does this mean Ben had a relapse? Or was Mike Tomlin just saying Ben would start at QB to get an advantage? All the reports indicated Ben was "passing all the concussion tests and would start".

There was some talk that the NFL was getting really strict on the perception of letting people play with head injuries, and they were taking less questionable chances.
