Conelius Jones and Cullen Christian
I know it has been discussed already. But with the way Conelius jones is playing I am getting more and more excited about him. He seems like a big time leader and athlete. On top of that Cullen Christian making his commitment public today and I am really excited about our future.
RR knows how to evaluate talent and I can see that in his recruiting classes.

Now he just needs the experience. Man.

I'll be at the Byrnes vs. Spartanburg game this Friday and give my meaningless yet informative take on Jones. Looking forward to seeing one of our kids in action on the field.

I'll be there as well. I'm interested in seeing how he has progressed throughout the season as I haven't seen him in person since the early part of the season.

Gentlemen, I hope to be there as well, donning the Michigan hoodie for the late November game.

but lets hold off on judging RR's recruiting. Teric Jones looks like a total bust. Vlad Emilien couldn't beat out walk-ons. A number of guys left already for various reasons. Turner was redshirted despite a desperate need at CB. Etc. Lets just see how things turn out before we fawn over RR's recruiting.

Come on, Teric Jones is a true freshman playing a position he hasn't played before. Emilien is also a true freshman coming off major knee surgery. Turner is a true freshman and was late getting into camp. Give these guys a fair shot before passing judgement.

They're all true freshmen. How can they be total busts?
November 24th, 2009 at 11:13 PM ^
I said ONE of them LOOKS like a total bust. Which Jones does considering he was picked on by Deleware State and simply doesn't look like he belongs anywhere on a big10 roster. Yeah, I realize he's a position switch. He looks short and stocky like a RB. We should give him time and reserve judgment...I think that was my point in not anointing RR the king of recruiting just yet.

A lot of freshmen look bad when they first take the field. Keep in mind that when they're reserves, they often don't get many reps in practice, so they take the field without a lot of preparation. It's way too early to be talking about Jones or anyone else in his class "looking like a bust."

weak dude
November 24th, 2009 at 9:42 PM ^
So by your logic you are a total bust if you are not a true frosh super star. I wish I could have Robocop punch you in the face because it would really hurt.

MS Paint?

that Teric Jones was the sexual assaulter, you're nuts. And the other guys you metioned are freshmen, too. Did you rip on Braylon as a freshman and sophomore? Or Jason Avante. or Adrian Arrington? Or Chris Perry? Or Biakabatuka? How can a guy who is redshirted or played sparingly be a bust? Seriously?
November 24th, 2009 at 10:37 PM ^
of all weak sauce. Calling out freshmen as busts?
November 24th, 2009 at 9:30 PM ^
that would say something about cornelius jones and his leadership if they somehow find a way to beat byrnes. should make all michigan fans happy, but hes probably not going to be playing that much

The problem is that not many people are able to be objective right now about RR's recruiting. Fans generally fall into the "Fire him" or the "Firing him would be the stupidest thing ever" camp, and that tends to influence their analysis of his recruiting. Once a lot of this stuff blows over and a few wins start rolling (along with seeing the development of the players RR has recruited), we'll be able to make a better judgement.

as among fans that follow recruiting closely (die hard crazy people like us) there seems to be a pretty objective sentiment from about 60% of us. Sure, there's Tom Hagan and outliers, or take your pick RR fanatics, but mostly, especially after this year, I think the majority is pretty sanguine about the whole thing.
And, Yes, he seems to be a pretty decent recruiter, once focusing on areas of need and not merely slot ninjas.

If you follow recruiting you probably think it matters (as I do on both counts), but people need to show a little perspective and patience. You can't count on every 4 or 5 star to come in and beat out the guys in the previous classes who didn't look like all americans when pressed into duty as underclassmen.

your completely right about that. if rr doesnt have 10 wins in 2011. he will have no excuse as to why he hasnt produced here by then.
