What do you think lies in the future for Hoke?

Assuming the inevitable happens after this season, where do you think Hoke will wind up in the coming years? He's already had his shot at his dream job, but do you think he will still have the fire/passion to coach again some place else? Will he settle into a DC position or DL position at a top school?

Considering that a ton of parents and coaches who have visited have said Michigan is ten years behind on techniques used today. I think that pretty much assures that Hokes best days are behind him coaching wise. I would let him be recruiting coordinator at a MAC school though.

and the play of his players his first time around at UM, Ball St & SDSU shows that he isn't as soft/inept as he showed here. I think the job had a mystique to him, an unspoken way to run a program where winning wasn't equal to (or was exactly equal to) "doing it the right way". I think he stopped coaching like he had always coached when he took over and I think it's largely because he felt he had some ideal to uphold. That said, I also think the game may have passed his coaching ability/style by a bit. To be a "line it up and manball to victory" guy is not really valid anymore outside of a few truly elite coaches. No doubt kids love the guy! No doubt. Recruiting is the one thing he could still do VERY well. I'd guess he takes a year off, maybe learns modern defensive technique and become a DL coach at a bigger school, DC at a mid-major or HC at a very small program down on its luck. A "buddy" hookup NFL job isn't out of the question. Either way I have no personal animosity toward Hoke and I wish him the best in the future. He'll always be a huge part of many good & great UM teams. He clearly loves UM. He just isn't cut out to run the football program entire. If there wouldn't be odd emotional, hierarchical & loyalty issues I have to admit I wouldn't mind keeping him on as a DL coach/recruiting dude. Yet, those issues are natural and, knowing UM, inevitable, so I wish him well elsewhere.

A burning desire for redemption after blowing his dream job leads Brady Hoke to construct a time machine.

Traveling time for the future of mankind, Brady experiments upon himself with a dangerous mix of genetic modification, cybernetic implants, and ancient arcane rites.

He becomes something... more than a Hoke. He can now see into the astral planes, he can feel the ether which divides the worlds.

Armed with the power cosmic, Hoke returns to earth to defend the only colors that matter. Hoke vows unceasing hostilities against Ohio and the great civil war between Hoke and Ohio will be fought as a powerless America looks on.

Finally after many battles, starving and outnumbered, Hoke charges the fields of Bannockburn...

And wins Michigan's freedom.

The one thing Hoke has proven is that he can recruit and recruit well. He doesnt have the ability to be successful and develop players at this caliber of football. I can see him stepping back and being a recruiter and assistant for Michigan. Doubtful he would want anything less than a HC position, but if Michigan is where he wants to be then he might be willing to make some sacrifices.
