Game is on ESPNU right now.
The current "feels like" temperature in Tempe right now is 104. Michigan is wearing Blue pants. Not to mention the sweat from playing.
These girls are tougher than I could ever hope to be.
I love the cold weather. I literally sleep with my window open at night in January.
I get annoyed when it's 85. 104....
I keep my air at 80 down here in NC and I still usually cover up with a sheet when I go to sleep at night.
I played 9 holes of golf in Phoenix one day when it was about 110.
SiLo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The slump is over!!!
3-1 Michigan!
Thats an impressive way to get on the board.
Also did they say the batters have zero responsibility to move out of the way to avoid getting hit by a pitch? That was pretty weak by the SDSU girl in the first, she just stuck her leg out.
Gosh damnit.
Well, at least Betsa is coming in.
Once again, Michigan gets screwed over by a moronic call on a throw from Sweet to 2B.
According to a quick google search, MSU won a national title before the NCAA existed (in 1976. Division 1 softball title started in 1982. So Michigan was the first team east of the Mississippi to win an NCAA national title. This all according to Wikipedia.
I love how crazy softball is and that Michigan just scored a run and the ball never left the infield.
MSU was part of the NAIA when they won the title, not the NCAA.
You mean AIAW.
The NCAA began sponsoring women's sports in 1981-82. Prior to that, everyone competed in the AIAW.
The AIAW was the women's version of the NCAA. Michigan and pretty much everyone else left the AIAW when the NCAA began sponsoring.
The NAIA is the NCAA but for much smaller schools like Davenport.
please...
Bad baserunning again. I believe that is twice a baserunning error cost them a bases loaded opportunity for Romero.
My only guess is she paused to make the tag play more difficult for the second baseman. If she continued running maybe the second baseman was able to tag her and lob it easily to first for the double play.
That is the only explanation I have other than just a brief lapse in judgement.
Tough to judge when you are not in the moment like Doyle was. But I agree, she probably should have ran full speed to second, and I bet she would say the same thing after the fact now.
Now that was a nice inning, lets have more of those please.
Back to back 1 - 2 - 3 innings. Two more innings like that and bring on Arizona State.
Rather play dartmouth in the 1-0 game.
But is there much of a chance of that happening? I assume ASU is the heavy favorite in that game.
