Michigan doesn't make the cut for 2019 5* SF Jaden McDaniels, a top 5 player in the country, who was widely believed to be considering Michigan. His list consists of Washington, UCLA, Kentucky, Texas, and San Diego St. 4 of those schools make sense for him as UCLA and UK are blue bloods, he is from Washington, and his brother goes to SD St, but I still don't understand how Texas is constantly in the top schools for so many 5*s. I just don't understand it as none of their 5*s have ever developed in their time at UT

Obviously he's looking for the one year plan and not the 40 year one. All good.
GO BLUE!!

We seriously don’t need one and dones, it would have to be a perfect fit.

I would rather have the guys who want to get paid in college DQ Michigan right away instead of keeping them hanging before signing with a dirty program.

Huh? Since when does the NCAA care about players getting paid in college?

While it's disappointing when we fail to land a top player, it's unlikely that we will get 5 star players. We have a program that is best suited for high 4 stars who might stay at least a couple years not one and dones.

There is some truth to this from a prospect's viewpoint. 5stars are typically looking for a place to showcase their respective talents as opposed to further development.
Development implies that one has a lot of work to do with his game in order to achieve the ultimate goal, the NBA. Showcasing implies that one will be put in a position to best sell his game to NBA GMs. I know that most will likely disagree, but its rather easy to see why one selling point resonates with top 20 prospects while the other may not.

Not to mention I've talked with a couple D1 basketball players and a couple former Michigan players and they all say Beilein's system is incredibly complex and hard to pick up immediately. Do you think that could be a turn off for prospective one and done guys as most won't even have a good comfort level of the offensive system until January and thus can't effectively showcase their NBA talents as much?

In all honesty, I've never spoken with a prospect, his parents, or anyone within their respective camps and been expressly told that a complex system would preclude a kid from going to Michigan.
I have heard the typical "Michigan doesn't show enough love", "The system is boring", "They don't recruit good athletes" and the like as factors cited against Michigan during the recruiting process, but never complexity.

MattD nowhere to be found. How convenient.

I'm here. Not much I can do about the decisions of 17-18 years olds, even if I don't like said decisions for personal reasons.
Texas has been strong throughout (selling KD comparison), Kentucky is the dream school (but no offer as of yet), Washington is close to home, SDSU is simply a filler to respect his brother (not a serious player though), UCLA is a tradition rich program.
Michigan didn't make the cut because he simply liked the other options more, really not much else to it.
If Stewart doesn't commit to Kentucky, then I'd expect Cal to offer McDaniels and him to accept shortly after.

He doesn't have an offer from Kentucky?

SDSU hands down. Just visited their campus last weekend. Can't beat San Diego

Durant played at Texas and I bet a bunch of Warriors games are broadcast in Washington. Just a guess tho.

Shaka has been there 2 years. Allen got better during his one year and went 1st round, and Bamba was Bamba. And he can obviously recruit.
