World Cup Day 7 Thread
Matches of the day are:
Portugal v Morocco 8am ET
Uruguay v Saudi Arabia 11am ET
Iran v Spain 2pm ET
On the surface, each game is 1/2 way interesting. Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and Iran all have very tough opponents. I'd be shocked, SHOCKED, if this wasn't 3 wins for the 3 favorites, but of course that's why they play the games. Tally Ho!!
I bet heavy action that Uraguay would win their group but I am beginning to think Russia may take them.
It's amazing how good Uruguay is when you consider its population is a little over 3 million. It's not just a matter of them being scrappy either - they regularly produce elite talent.
Spain v Iran is painful to watch so far. Iran putting 6-7 guys on the edge of the box and just letting Spain pass around.
I mean good for Iran knowing what they can do to try and mitigate Spain's attack, but woof. Iran in the attacking 3rd for what seems like the first time in 34 minutes.
Yeah, it's not too awesome to watch, though I can't blame the Iranians - it makes strategic sense for them. They'd be happy with a draw here.
If this score doesn't change, whoa - Spain would suddenly be in a must-win situation against Morocco. That free kick by Ronaldo looms large right now.
I both like and hate their strategy. It’s hard to watch, but it’s working, I hope Spain breaks through. Not a fan of the Iranians diving whenever they get within 2 feet of a Spaniard.
Spain might complete 800 passes. Give them enough chances and they will eventually score.
Oh shit. Iran might have just squared this up....
Tough break for Iran. They are about 2 feet away from a 2-1 lead
A hair offside...heartbreaking for them.
the 3rd games of the group stage for Group B is going to be wild as I believe Spain/Portugal are in a dead-lock tie right now with points and goal differential.
Tomorrow's last game will be great too. Croatia should give Argentina a tough time and Messi will be on a mission
