UConn loses to Towson, but who is Towson?

Moved down from Pennsylvania and started the town in Maryland which bears their name.
Or was that a rhetorical question?

The author of this piece lost quite a bit of credibility for me when he described UConn as a "firmly established FBS program." That description seems quite a stretch and betrays either ignorance or deliberate exaggeration on the part of the author.

By firmly established he doesn't mean "these guys are a solid/good program". He means that they've been FBS for quite a while now.
It's a contrast to Southern Alabama, which is in its first year of FBS play.

They moved to I-A/FBS in 2000. They're not brand new (like Southern Alabama), but they're still pretty new.

Yeah, it may depend on how old you are; if I were in my early 20s, a decade might seem like quite a while. At my age, though, events that took place ten years ago often seem like very recent events.
