OT: Microsoft Crumbles Under Consumer Pressure - Major Changes to Xbox One Policies

Submitted by boliver46 on

Microsoft decided to reverse field on two of their most controversial policies regarding the Xbox One.  No longer will we be required to have an internet connection that connects every 24 hours.  Nor will we have to follow a confusing bureaucratic red taoe mess for used games.

The people have spoken!!!

Microsoft Bowing to Pressure

Will this make you more likely to buy the Xbox One?  Many people seemed to flock to PS4 in the wake of Microsoft's draconian policies...does this bring you back?

I'm thinking to wait til next summer to get a new system right now leaning toward Ps4 because of the price and RDM and need to be online 24/7 and it didnt help when president said "if you want to play offline we have the 360". But the gamer in me want to stay Xbox because they have a better gaming stream then PS4 since Xbox is partnered with twitch and PS4 is with U-stream. In videogame streaming Twitch is good while U-stream not so much.

Sorry, Microsoft. Too late. I already pre-ordered my PS4. But it's all good. I won't be able to play my 360 games on the Xbone anyway so I said screw it. Used to have PSone and PS2. Bought a 360 because all my college buddies had one and it was cheaper. I love my 360 and will continue to play it after I get my PS4. But the policies Microsoft came out with originally really tainted my view of the new console. I'll be perfectly happy with my 360 and PS4.

Studies have shown that people always say they want backwards compatibility in consoles  but then almost never use it for more than a very brief period at the beginining of the consoles lifetime.   So it's a question of, do you give people what they SAY they want, or what they actually demonstrate that they want?

Honestly, outside of a few games of Halo 2 I can't think of a single XBox game I ever played on my 360.

I want to bitch slap the hell out of the person who told We Are The Borg that his DarthWolverine handle was caved and nobody has been able to see his posts without the iPhone app for the past few months.

It still has a REQUIRED kinect device that is capable of hearing your heartbeat (... whispers in the other room????!?!?) that WILL be collecting data.

I'm assuming a lot of you never had the original kinect, I personally enjoyed having that thing turn itself on (360 off) in the middle of the night to take a peak around my room, that lasted 1 night before being sold.

On top of the used game policy is the patents filed for individual charges for use of products. "Oop, you have 4 people in the room, well you only paid for 2 people to watch it so you have to rent it two more times."
