MgoBlog Final Four Meet and Greet
So, I just purchased tickets for the Final Four games on Saturday (sec 118, row 24 - yeah, I know, killer seats). Was wondering if there would be a chance of an MgoBlog get together at one of the Michigan bars before the games start.
I am not a student or an alum, nor have I ever been to a sporting event of this magnitude, so maybe there are others out there that have more information on how this would come about, what the Michigan bars are and where they are located, etc.
Thoughts?
I'd be down but am only willing to go if I get to meet Section1
write my papers and we're good to go.
So what was the damage on those seats?
Totally off topic, but wow you have the coolest avatar ever. I had to tell you.
My photoshops actually turn out decent from time to time!
Don't want to get into specifics, but a good amount less than what the nosebleeds are going for on StubHub. Pretty stoked!
Well, safe to say luck or connections were on your side. Hopefully one or both will be for me too. Enjoy!
A lot of due dilligence on ticket broker sites, and then Craigs List. And a bit of luck finding someone with great seats that is not trying to totally fleece the general public.
I've been hitting the Craigs pretty hard too. I've been constantly refreshing open tabs on Ann Arbor, Atlanta, Wichita, Louisville, and Syracuse craigslist pages. All the decent prices so far have turned out to be scammers.
Wondering the same about Michigan bars. In Dallas, it seemed like all the Michigan fans spontaneously (was it?) ended up at this Black Friar bar the night before the Bama game, which was awesome.
It sounds like the "Buckhead" area is a good spot, according to the guy who put together the thorough and awesome Atlanta Guide.
iirc, pretty sure black friar was the alumni club of dallas bar selection, and spread the word to all alums to gather there the night before the bama game... i wouldnt be surprised if the atlanta alums do something similiar...
We are the second game .... so if you wander around towards the exits after game 1 some of the losing teams fans will be leaving ... just cause they are LOSERS. There's a chance you may be able get their tickets for the Michigan game. Be sure you know "good" section numbers and shit, if they were floor seats and they're leaving give em $20 and you may get great seats. Since they lost they won't be coming back on Monday either (you could take a risk for Monday night). In 2010 I bought 6 tickets from "loser" fans for the Monday championship game!
Option 2 - did this in Indy 2010. My buddy and I scoped for vacant rows during the first half of the championship game Butler v. Dook. After spotting a great looking spot - we took off just before halftime, then blended our way in with everyone else filing in with their halftime snacks. We watched the second half from the 20th row right at the free throw line - haha in front of the suites! Almost the greatest NCAA championship game ever had that halfcourt shot gone in ...
Anyway ... to all M fans going, HAVE A GREAT TIME & ...
Go Blue!
I doubt you could re-enter the game using the same ticket these "loser" fans just used.
you get the tickets from them BEFORE they leave the stadium .... duh. You are already inside!
Go Blue!
Not sure what you're referring to, but I think he's referring to getting a ticket to the second semifinal from a fan of the team that lost the first semifinal as they are leaving. Those tickets are for both games, I believe, and re-entry is almost assuredly forbidden.
(Though, if you ask, you might be able to re-enter. I've done it at Comerica Park before, they just have to re-scan your ticket on the way out).
This is just a way to upgrade nosebleed seats. You are already inside. You stop them as they are exiting their section, but before they exit the arena. Surely they allow people to leave sections to use the restrooms or buy consessions.
This. Be careful, or you'll end up holding a $50 souvenir piece of paper/cardboard.
I have done this. You get the ticket BEFORE they leave the stadium. They are NOT coming back. You MUST be able to show your ticket at any time INSIDE the stadium. I arrived with nose bleeds and pick up a decent seat for game #2. Tickets are for BOTH games AND there are separate tickets for Saturday (Final Four) and Monday (Championship game).
Go Blue!
I see what you are saying. I don't like the idea of paying for tickets after I have already bought tickets, but I get it. Still, why would people leave the game they already paid for after travelling all the way from Kansas to Atlanta? I will still go to the Championship if we lose (but please win).
but you will see a lot of empty seats on Monday. It's a scalpers paradise on Sunday ... just walk anywhere near the stadium and you'll be able to buy any quanity you want. That's just the way it is ... especially if L'ville and the Cuse lose.
Go Blue!
Let's clear this up. He is saying that you buy nose bleed tickets to get in the stadium. Then, you get someone else's ticket and use it to get better seats. You might have to pay an extra $20 on top of what you already paid to get into the stadium to get the upgrade in seats, but it would be worth it.
There is a huge sports bar named STATS close to Phillips Arena and the Dome. Until three years ago it was the official alumni bar for football games. I'm sure it will be packed with fans of all four teams all day saturday. There is also a Taco Mac right across the street from Phillips Arena that will be similarly crowded.
I have been wanting to set up something for a bunch of us to meet up. I will be in Atlanta around 1pm on Saturday and am looking for a good place to hang out with fellow MgoBloggers until the first game. I also agree with the get open seats as people are leaving their section after the first game and about the scoping out open seats during the first half. I caught about 5 piston playoff games back in the day from the sidelines.
