Garage Sale Open Thread

It's about 4:50am and we've already got a good line going. We've got people in tents, tailgate buses with generators, and poor schmucks like me with a bag to sit on. How is everyone else doing this fine, rainy morning?

first time poster.  Created a user account just so I could agree with this poster--I'm not sure why this poster got marked for trolling.  Honestly the people at this event with the garbage bags of 30 jerseys just to flip it on eBay or on here are ridiculous.  (same rant reserved for another post regarding sugarbowl/Dallas Bama game tickets for those flipping way above face value and discouraging good fans)

The jerseys are $50.  If you weren't going to wear them or gift them for family and friends, why buy so many extras?  There are other people behind in line that could've wanted it at an event geared towards Michigan fans.  Not really sure if the markup was really worth the extra buck.  I mean I know we're not in communist Russia and I understand the whole "first come first serve" policy, but just some common courtesy ?   we don't need to parasite off our own fans.

Apologize for the mini-rant.  And It is not directly aimed at the gentleman above who I understand the markup for driving down and for the effort in selling to those unfortunate enough to live far away from the event.  But really, the people who went to this event know what i'm talking about.  There were people straight hoarding everything in sight with giant garbage bags.  I'm fine with that, but only as long as it wasn't to make a quick buck at the expense of other loyal michigan fans.

Got #44 in white which happened to be my number and a size 48 (literally only one I found that wasn't a 42-46), two pairs of UTL pants (assume do because of the classic adidas logo not the modern one), a Michigan basketball polo from their Europe trip in 2010,UTL hat and five shirts for five bucks

This event was like a food drop in Ethiopia! Spirited fans furiously sorting through items to purchase. Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves. University staff on hand very jovial. Line was long but proceeded smoothly. Bought a few things to take back to VA. Football season on everyone's mind.

This is my first time posting. I was wondering, if they were selling any of the windshirts, with short sleeves, that Coach Hoke wears at practice? I  have seen him wearing them at press conferences, Spring Game, and in The Wolverine mag. I was just wondering if they were selling any today at the garage sale. Thank you.

While waiting in line, I saw a man with a huge pile of jerseys on the ground in front of him.  He began sorting them out, placing them into two piles.  At first, I was confused, but then it became apparent when all the numbers in one pile (e.g. 28, 32, 19) were giving away what he was doing.  In all, I counted seventeen jerseys in the "keeper" pile while another twenty-four were in the "non-keeper" pile.  I hope the jerseys he bought will go to a better use than making a profit for himself.

this douchewagon has about fifteen pairs of pants up for sale...

here's another cousin to the douche from bellville with a handfull of jerseys

and you can bet this is only the start...a few more sellers will pop up Sunday after 'kids day' and they secure a bunch of autographs to really drive the price up...hate this shit...there is a fine line between free market and black market and these jackwagons have crossed that line.

The guy from Belleville has one jersey up on ebay.  He is a friend of mine and only bought like 4 jerseys for him to keep aside from the Ezeh.  So dont be calling him one of those douche bags that puts up a million jerseys when he only has one up.

You can blame David Brandon for putting over 800 jerseys for sale last year and then over 8 racks of jerseys this year.  And people can post all the jerseys they want, I bet you 75% of those will still be on ebay next year.  There are jerseys on ebay that were obtained from the garage sale last year that are still on ebay.

and put one or a hundred up for that matter...he's still a douche, but if it makes both of you feel better...he's only a small scale douche...if he didn't need it, he should have left it for someone else to purchase. He saw the name on the back and dollar signs popped in his head, he got caught up in the same greed mongering and I'd bet if he had more cash on him he'd have loaded up just like the other asswads. calling a spade a spade.

Blame Dave Brandon? Welcome to the other part of today's society...ain't MY fault...someone else made me or let me or whatever...grow a pair of stones and admit when you screw up or make a bad choice... I suppose if Dave Brandon told him to jump off a bridge...well you know how that goes. And he clearly bought an ezeh as you mention due to the name figuring it might fetch higher dollar. I've yet to ride on a turnip truck let alone fall off of one.

*** and for the record, spare me any 'well I just increased the price to cover my cost for gas and time for those who couldn't be there..' well do I get a discount if I drove all the way up there, stood in line and there was nothing left because someone thought of others? Already know the answer don't you?

can only make a profit if their purchases sell on ebay. Many of the jerseys were very small for an adult build.

There are people with over indulgance issues in every area of life. Just go to a Golden Corral and eat sometime. What the jersey hogs did yesterday at the garage sale is no different than grazing for hours at a buffet.

So you must know who this guy because you apparently saw him take and buy 100 jerseys from the garage sale.  He got the jersey for his wife and the jersey didnt fit his wife so he had no use for it.  He bought 4 jerseys to wear so its not like he bough 30, and yes if he wanted to buy a shit ton more he could have but he isnt one of those people.  Maybe you shouldnt assume these fact because it makes you look like a douche.  And names dont mean jack shit.  Just take a look at ebay, you seem to look everyday and complain about how people post a million jerseys.

If you saw pictures of the garage sale you would have noticed that there were 8 full racks of jerseys and that there were plenty of jerseys for everybody.

I was just saying that everyone knows there is a huge market for Michigan stuff and when you sell over 1000 game and practice jerseys you know some are going up on ebay.  I dont see you calling the two people assholes who won spring game jerseys through mgoblue and then quickly put them up on ebay to make a profit.

For the record, my friend lives in Chelsea and doesnt need to use the excuse of paying for gas and whatever you want to add to that.

the UTL pants he was just selling for a friend...and I find it so ironic that folks argue for Players to receive money because the University is making money off their backs with zero return. Though we lose sight of the fact that without the scholarship most wouldn't attend university or if nothing else be showcased for NFL combine/draft status. They get plenty back...and simply because others sell more, or more often doesn't change the fact ANYONE selling shit like this to clear a profit is scum. I take a very hard line on this and I could care less if it's one or one hundred or one that doesn't fit his wife or whomever...GUARANTEE a conversation was had that he could profit enough to cover some of the costs he paid to get what he wanted... it's basic human nature in stuff like this and one of the reasons I stopped going long ago. Last time I was there I purchased a pair of Nike cleats to date the apathy for watching such greedmongers rummage to make a buck.

In light of the entire buckeye tat gate/equipment for cash if the university were smart they'd roam ebay and have all auctions of this nature pulled down to protect themselves/their athletes...who's to say your 'friend' isn't Ezeh himself making a buck. I seriously doubt it really is, but why take the chance? The University athletic department certainly has the grounds to do so...why take the risk not knowing who's selling what and when the U sells stuff the proceeds go back to the athletes and the administration, when your buddy and others ten times his ability apparently? do so, they line their pockets and fill the beer fridge. Talk about taking advantage of student athletes and making a buck off their name. We can argue this infinitely, The University holds a sale to raise money and reach out to fans...fans in turn with zero moral compass use the chance to sell shit...if he REALLY wanted to be fair/right/just/whatever lable you want....he'd donate all the profits to the University/MOTT/WHATEVER or...just put the auction up for exactly what he paid plus fee costs as a buy it now...as to watching ebay...to stop shit like this I'd GLADLY donate my time to sweep EBAY daily and forward it to ebay or the university. I hate this shit and douches who think they are owed something because they stood in a line and paid for something others want...and if he has any extra hannah montana tickets or the like shoot me an email =)

so I started thinking you know, maybe I really don't know this guy, until I went through his ebay profile. Turns out he's pretty douchy...just one item at a time apparently. His entire sales history is similar in nature, nickle and dime sport items he buys up and flips. Spare me the song and dance about how the jersey doesn't fit...and if I might add, dude, if Ezeh's jersey didn't fit his wife, maybe he should use some of his profits on a fitness program, hell even P90x...

Hahaha, you really think that the jerseys of good players with nameplates were obtained from the garage sale? It's called having connections and I would know because his friend hooked me up with jerseys also. Have you seen any decent players with nameplates on eBay? I didn't think so.

MSHOT92

August 13th, 2012 at 11:17 AM ^

so not only is he douchey as an ebay artist...he uses his connections to get them...wow, wonder how the Atheltic department would feel knowing an insider is hooking bitches up so they can ebay the stuff...smells like the ohio scandal all over again? I sure wouldn't want to be broadcasting that I have some dude in the athletic department hooking me up with team apparel so I can sell it on ebay...you really are a terdbag, this thing just keeps getting better...knew it when i called it the first time and you just keep adding sugar to the pie...great job on that...'hey look at me, I have inside connections and I openly abuse them and who cares if the university or football program goes down because of it, I'm rich, i made a hundred bucks scalping shit on ebay'...fucking morons. THIS is the stuff I can't stand..what a couple of morons.

Yea I wish actual fans could get the items at the attended price but seems like the same old guy that was at toys r us an hour early to break open slu cases has switched to jerseys. Would much rather they auction these goods themselves and donate the proceeds to Mott than let the scampers get the profit.
