Love this news.  I don't like the idea of locking us in to certain scheduling decisions.  I want us to be free to schedule a variety of big name non-conference opponents from year to year... not always from the Pac-12.

I want the possibility of... Auburn, Oklahoma, Florida State, etc .... not just the Pac-12 every year.

You want the possibility but how many times in the last decade have we scheduled Auburn, Oklahoma, Florida State, etc. Just offhand we have had Washington and Oregon. And nothing since 2007

Despite the head-faking about SOS, it will still be better to schedule wins in the non-con schedule for the most part.  The penalty for losing will still be far far greater than the penalty for playing middling competition will be.  You just have to avoid playing really BAD teams. 

The goal for non-con scheduling is going to be to play one solid upper-tier teams and then 3 mediocre teams that really have little chance to beat you but all look decent enough on paper to keep your SOS intact.  You just have to avoid the land-mine teams that finish 2-10 and  are like #100-#117 in the country
