And dammit stay out of the box!
At least it's 4-on-4 now.
22 seconds later, a penalty on the Preds
4-on-4 Hockey ensues
You stole my Open Thread haha.
Go Wings
Sorry, didn't mean to take it from anyone, just saw that one wasn't up and the game was starting lol
First shot comes in at 5 minutes? Guess it's better than peppering 40 shots from the Blue line at Rinne
So damn close on a breakaway
Don't associate our Maize with Nashville
Is anyone else getting tired of these Ram vs Mule commercial? Especially since Franzen hasn't been stepping up in the Playoffs
I really hate Rinne. Why couldn't we get a guy like Bryzgolav?
Bryzaster
No I meant why couldn't we play a guy like Bryzgalov over Rinne
Bryz didn't just turn into a sieve, he's always been one. The Wings feasted on his head scratching breakdowns the last two years. I can't believe the Flyers put themselves in salary cap hell by signing him. Say goodbye to all their promising young talent once they become free agents.
though I'm not a Franzen guy my self
Detroit penalty, hooking
Nashville PP midway through 1st
Man Cleary was so close to breaking that one out
Great read by Filp to basically kill the Nashville PP
They said this during the broadcast, we need the first goal. The team scoring the first goal has won all the games so far in this series.
but it is so true
that was close
It seems like we've had like 3 or 4 breakdowns defensively in the last few games. Just leaving guys wide open
Great saves by Jimmeh so far
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
This defense sucks fucking dick
Color me depressed.
Soft goal, and given how every other game has gone, there goes the series
Time to tear down in the offseason...or is there enough left on the roster to just retool things?
This is such a passive team in most every way.
I doubt mental toughness/determination is much of a coaching topic in the NHL.
Quincey, who made the weak pass that got picked off, is only 26.
I have a question for you guys:
Anybody else think that one of the biggest problems with the NHL is how much (percentage wise) of the cap can go to a single player?
I say this because a star like ovechkin get something like 17% of the whole salary. And on the wings lidstrom, datsyuk, and zetterberg are just under 30% of the salary (18 mill of the 60 million total).
If you look at the nfl, look at highest paid players, and consider how much of an impact is possible (average minutes played or average plays of the plays in a season: I have no charts just a hunch) it seems like the highest paid players command a much larger portion of the teams salary cap...
I used: http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=15
Think about the NBA. Kobe accounts for like 20% of the Lakers salary cap, while your example is one legend, one top forward and one former Conn Smythe winner accounting for 30%.
Basketball requires the least amount of stars, hockey is in the middle, football requires the most stars. I think that's what the salary cap situations reflect.
