Updated Scoreboard Photos
I was by the stadium today and took some photos of the scoreboard construction (for those who care, realizing this could be a small subsection of the crowd). Hopefully, I don't butcher the re-sizing too badly. I was going to post them in an older thread about scoreboard construction but figured it was already a bit too wide with images on that page.
This is a view driving by the south end zone (my only south board pic).
North end zone...rear of the board:
Rear of board close-up:
A bit wider view (notice the additional strip of board below the main board, and above the legendary halo remnants):
More north board (different angle):
Close-up of top west corner construction:
Yet another angle...the "Michigan Stadium" looks nice:
Another straight-ahead view of rear. It looks like the bottom left and right of the bottom strip (which the rendering made to look like an entire, usable video space) are just solid blue paneling. The final product is likely to look a bit different than the rendering.
p.s. Sorry for the huge images. I tried a few times to re-size but having no luck. If anyone can help, that'd be great. Thanks.
rather 80s looking while they are testing at night.
Anyone know if they plan to brick in the pillars? It would look so much nicer if they did.
I don't think they'll do anything like that until after the next round of expansion (in the endzones).
On testing the new scoreboards!

The maize coloring on the "U" in "Stadium" on the south scoreboard fell off today. Better now than during the season, but it makes you think when the other coloring is going to start falling off too.

From the looks of it, you can see the faint numbers of 00:00 on the bottom left. And if you think about it, the space remaining on the bottom right looks to be the perfect size for a 25 second play clock.
That would be consistent with the design first revealed by the athletic department. So, it looks like this is what the scoreboard will look like after all! I'm sure they can add block M's to the side speaker areas easily.
What seems odd is that (going left to right) it appears there will be:
-game clock
-solid blue panel
-video "strip"
-solid blue panel
-25 second clock
Why not just make the entire bottom a video strip that can display clocks (rather than limiting usable space with two solid panels and static clocks)? I'm sure there's a reason for it all, but at this (unfinished) point, it appears a bit chopped up.
dunno, but I have confidence these will be the sweetest scoreboards in town!

Can anyone give an update from today on the back of the scoreboards?
I was watching the scoreboard feed as I often do to avoid work. The workers were in the middle of putting on the speaker covers when one of them dropped what looked like a 2x4 into one of the speakers. But everything appears to be ok, since they continued with the task of installing the covers. Though it did stop work for a moment, and leaving me on the edge of my seat. God I need the season to start soon.
I can't answer that question, but I can report that the screen is tripping balls right now.

What's the dead pixel policy on this thing? Two adjacent dead pixels or at least 5 dead pixels for replacement? Looks like a dead pixel on the bottom center.
Sounds like you're tech savy with these sort of questions, so can you enlighten us as to what exactly they're doing with the board now? If this is a "test", how long do you think they'll run it before they play some actual content?
It appears that the "Michigan Stadium" lettering is backlit from inside the scoreboard! Hopefully the block M on back will be as well!! Awesome!
That is Saaweeeet! to bad fans will only see it live a few hours a year.
Many thanks to the mod who re-sized my photos. I tried a few different ways and just couldn't get it right. Good looking out!
Looks like the webcam is back to life and questions are being answered:
Solid panels on the bottom get block M's. Play clock on right. Game clock on left. Hopefully, some HD via webcam later today.
