At first, general manager Regan Koivisto thought having a few celebrities would generate a good buzz for the Sciota Reserve Country Club. But, he said, he started to worry when they became frequent guests -- and when he learned that Talbott was a sports memorabilia dealer. "I said, 'This does not smell good,' " Koivisto said. "If anything bad was happening, I didn't want it to be happening on my property." Koivisto called the Ohio State athletic department and said he spoke to coach Jim Tressel's secretary. He said he told the woman about how he was concerned about Talbott and Pryor playing together at the club. "She asked, 'Can I have Coach Tressel call you?' I said, 'He can,' " Koivisto said. "Coach never did call me back. But I never saw Pryor at the club again." No one else from Ohio State contacted Koivisto, either.
So many different the things you can do to break the rules and you pick golf?
Insatiable appetite for this stuff? IMO, it's virtually impossible to get tired of these articles, at least to the extent that they cover new material. And it really can't drag on long enough, as far as I'm concerned.
Although you do start to feel a bit Augustus Gloopy after awhile.
Putting aside the LOIC/death penalty stuff for a minute -
This golf thing is BIG news. If the NCAA finds/believes that Tressel/OSU knew about this, and it was an illegal benefit(which even if he paid, the access would probably be illegal), then say goodbye to their 2008-2009 seasons
Sounds like Tressel had a pretty routine system for dealing with players who he's been told are breaking NCAA rules, and that system never involved the compliance department. And that he went to the well one too many times.
JT: "I'll get right on that."
As long as the media interest remains high, they will keep digging. I have enlisted my kids to click through every article in the MSM about Ohio State being scumbags. They do this over and over and their reward is I'll take them to a Michigan game some day. Keep the interest high and more will violations will be exposed. This is like crack for the MSM.
