Streaming games from a new site, mgomat.com
I've been recording Michigan football games for a few years now, and one of the issues I've encountered is that although having a torrent of the game is nice, people really a streaming experience, ala YouTube/Netflix. But watching a two hour game on your laptop isn't very fun, right?
One of the new features of Apple's iOS 4.3 software for iPhone/iPad/iPod touch devices is that the user is able to stream embedded html5 video (which is really just href to an .mp4 file with a <video> tag), from an iOS device, to an Apple TV that is connected to your HDTV.
A video demonstration - http://youtu.be/M9XGQ_SJIJs
so, if you have an iOS device with the 4.3 firmware, and have a $99 Apple TV, you will be able to stream a few games this Fall.
You can check out The Brady 6 documentary that has already been posted - http://mgomat.com/2011/05/04/the-brady-six/
Same thing posted three weeks ago:

P.S. You need to add <source src="file.ogg"> for Firefox compatibility.
I know. I was using that particular video because it's what I had laying around.
And with to respect to Firefox/.ogg, there are other sites out there that will cater to that, namely mgovideo.com
The focus of this site is to get content to the TV, and that's pretty much it. It works with a specific set of parameters (having some sort of iOS device, whether it's an iPod touch/iPhone/iPad & a $99 Apple TV 2)
I think it's pretty accessible with respect to usability; two clicks and it's on your TV. No burning Blu-Rays/not being tethered to your laptop, etc. You just need a $99 Apple TV and an iOS device, which more and more people have.

it's easy for you and I to do that (and a good percentage of using mgoblog), but most people don't. HTPC has yet to have any meaningful marketshare penetration.
Did you say penetration? You don't need a HTPC, just the laptop you already have and a cable from Radio Shack. Or a monitor. Or a phone.
Analogous to Mac vs. PC (I prefer wireless over wired)
By the way, Apple's market cap is $350 billion.
wooo.
how is that AAPL short play working out? still hold onto it?
No MINE is bigger. No MINE is bigger. No MINE is......
and they got caught 'accidentally' tracking people through their iPhones. I don't see "festering pestilence" as one of my moderation options.
Did you guys breakup? Didn't both of you, Boyz and Karpo, used to run mgovideo?
Yeah, we did, but mgovideo has a zero tolerance policy on people who upvote their own OP. I hope we can still be friends. ;-)
Macs don't come with HDMI ports. I bought an Apple TV to get iTunes HD content onto my TV (mainly Doctor Who -- my cable provider is too cheap to get BBC America), so I've already got what I need.
Good to hear :)
tried it with an ATV2; worked well. I'll try it out this Fall.
upvoting yourself. Thought I would balance things out.
...don't understand the hate. I know several people with an Apple TV that would use this.
I have Apple TV and a Mac. How can I stream, say hulu or your website, to my TV? This is something that would be very useful for me, but can't seem to find anything easy to set it up. Thanks.
I think probably "Hulu Plus" ($8/month) will eventually support Apple TV, like Netflix does now. They already support a range of devices including iPad and iPhone.
Apparently, the early version of the Hulu Plus iOS app allowed AirPlay (thus you could watch via Apple TV), but it is blocked in the most recent update.
In response to your more general question: Until Mac OS 10.7 Lion comes out this summer, you need an iOS device (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) to do what the OP has envisioned. Although I suppose you could download the MP4 file and put it into iTunes and then use your computer to play it on Apple TV. If you respond to this comment I'd be happy to try it for you and see if it works.
