Mack Brown added, "I'm thrilled for him to be back at UT. He brings 36 years of experience, two Super Bowl rings, and a stuffed beaver to Austin and those are things you can't replace."

I just had to share this for those (like myself) that missed the premiere several nights ago: The greatest animal story ever (since the days of Gerg's inspirational sideline use of a stuffed animal, anyway) will be repeated Thursday evening on SyFy Channel from 7-9 pm.  Set your DVRs now; beware of ALL Tornado Warnings later!

(edit: fixed the title, inspired by a suggestion from FannMan)

Somewhat awkward title, but it's the best I could do ...

Very touching (IMO) article on how Greg Robinson's daughter rehabbed at UMich with help from Barwis and, in a different way, Craig Roh:

"There's just no way I'd have the same kind of respect if it weren't for him," Martin told AnnArbor.com during a recent interview. "We were playing backyard defense (under former defensive coordinator Greg Robinson), pretty much. Just going out, picking a gap and just kind of doing whatever we wanted to do. It was a lot different."

Classic and delicious stuff here: http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2011/10/the-joker-laughs-at-you#more

Bollman (let's refer to his offense 'Walrusball' going forward) has now produced two games where the Buckeyes failed to score more than seven points. He is on his way to becoming known nationally as the Greg Robinson of offensive coordinators for 2011. All he needs is a little stuffed Brutus to sick on JB Shugarts' neck every time he does what JB Shugarts always seems to do.

I understand why, as the anti-ESPN Classic, WolverineHistorian doesn't do Michigan losses. But sometimes the difference between winning and losing is so small that I feel like it's almost inconsequential when judging the overall greatness of a game. I can promise you that's not how I felt on January 1, 2005 (or January 1, 2000). I'm not sure if it's just the passing of time or what Vince Young did to the college football world the next season or both, but I definitely feel now that this is a great Michigan football game.

This was the first time the Rose Bowl was in HD. Does anyone know if there were other Michigan games that year in HD? If not, this would be the first HD Michigan game too. Quarters 2-4 are untouched streams from a blu-ray rip. I had to re-encode the pregame/1st  quarter to get it in under YouTube's 2GB limit. OK yeah tl;dr, commence seeking for shots of GERG.

OT: A comment by WVU Jr. DE Bruce Irvin (3-3-5 related)

First, WVU landed 4 defensive players on the 1st team All-Big East defensive team.

Second, I found this comment by WVU junior defensive end Bruce Irwin about sacks (he got 12 this last season) rather interesting:

"That's what I needed to do," Irvin said.

"We feed off of hitting the quarterback and getting sacks. We run the 3-3-5 and it's a pressure defense. Every play someone's coming. I just did what I had to do."

12 sacks as a DE running out of the 3-3-5.

Casteel must have ordered a crap load of blitzes this last year.
