I’ll clarify. NY slice pizza is shite. As you can see from my post above, I commend a sit down pizza place in Hells Kitchen, so take a Xanax and chill.

Then I stand corrected.  I'm certain I went to a pizza slice place called John's that everyone was raving about.

Maybe Joe's?

Not sure if you'll make it to the game since the Tigers may be playing.  I mean, you never miss a Tigers game, right?

Been to John's.  It was the same reheated shit that every other place serves.

I have countless classmates/friends in NYC that try to take me to the next best pizza slice place.  All are the same: reheated food for drunk people.

With that, I did go to a sit down pizza place in Hell's Kitchen (I can't remember the name of the place) that had an amazing pizza with burrata cheese on the top.  One of the best pizza's I've had.  Something I have not seen in Chicago.

I'll add that the most underrated NYC food is the chopped cheese.  I've had about 10 of them and every one of them were amazing.  Can't get a chopped cheese in Chicago.

NY pizza is shite.  Its a tasty snack that is good when you are drunk.  The pizza sits on that tin pan for god knows how long.  Then when you order the slice, it gets thrown into the oven to resurrect the flavor like the bride of Frankenstein, then served to you.  It's noticeably not fresh and worthy of drunk cuisine.

Um…your post pretty much aligns with Team101’s post. Your post clearly states that disruptions are prohibited, including banners and flags.

See Team 101's response below.  Disrupting the commencement (for any reason) was prohibited.

OK, I'll explain what I think it means.  By chanting "USA, USA, USA", they are supporting the the protestors right to protest at the commencement, right?

By chanting "USA, USA, USA" they are using their voice to signify that USA is such an awesome place, that they are underscoring their the right to protest, which is right not available in the vast majority of the world.

In the country of...checks notes...USA!  The horror!

I guess its just people…

I guess its just people VOICING their anger at those protestors.  It should be OK with you, right?

Keep in mind that when people's voices are stifled, they sometimes find other outlets for their anger, and that change is rarely convenient.

Because the people disrupting the commencement were not just VOICING their anger, but also ACTING out on it.

Lastly, if some people feel their voices are stifled, it does NOT give them any special rights and privileges to break any other rules/laws.

Am I the only one who finds this at least a bit concerning?  I'm not discounting what we have accomplished, but our NC has NOT shown to give us any recruiting bump whatsoever yet.  It seems that $$$ still rules the day and it looks like we still like to be arrogant about it.  I'd hate to lose all momentum if we don't invest more in NIL etc.

Good point.  Grade inflation is certainly a thing.

Something will have to burst…

Something will have to burst with regards to college prices.  Its already insane!  My high school (very big public high school in Cook County) is starting to back off trying to get kids into college.  When I was a student in the 90s, every guidance counselor was about pushing college onto kids.  Now, they are being more prudent about it.

I believe you didn't need an…

I believe you didn't need an SAT/ACT test score to go to OSU until 2004.  As much as I despise that school, ugly campus and cooler pooper fanbase, I can respect the ideal of giving a nice public school college education to the regular masses regardless of stats and/or socioeconomic status.

I think he made a good…

I think he made a good decision too!

My other complaint about college is that beyond the educational experience, it is viewed too much as a status symbol.  For example, my wife has several 40-plus year old single girlfriends who will not go out with a guy unless they went to college.  I think that is BS IMO.

profit?

I'm with you.  I really don…

I'm with you.  I really don't think I could get into Michigan today.

And with younger kids, its giving me anxiety on how to prepare for the college, both from an academic and financial standpoint.  And my kids are POC, which helps tremendously, but still gives me anxiety.

My one controversial opinion on this topic is that we really need to assess and minimize the need for college at all.  This could solve a lot problems IMO.

Not trying to go there, but…

Not trying to go there, but we've had a couple mayors who are a little loose on crime IMO.  We just had a cop funeral where they asked for mayor Johnson not to attend.  This is a big deal and an indication of where the city is now.

It got really bad during the 2020 riots, at this time we got out while we could.  I miss living in Chicago.  It has improved greatly since 2020, but it has a long way to go.

In Chicago, but stay away. …

In Chicago, but stay away.  I've been all over the world, and Chicago used to be one of the shining gems of urban living.  It was affordable, vibrant and safe.  Not so much anymore.

Cleveland Municipal was great for football, but bad for baseball IMO.

I've been to a bunch of games at old Tiger Stadium.  In fact, I was at the last game ever at the stadium.  Awesome game!  Anyway, I thought Tiger stadium was very seat dependent.  I thought the bleachers were pretty bad (but paid $5 for those seats in the late 90s), but I sat in some awesome seats there for very little (maybe $35).

I'm not much of a baseball fan, but Wrigley lost its charm about 5 years ago.  Its a corporate quagmire now.

Most over-rated to me was Fenway.  I went to a few games maybe 10 years ago.  The stadium was just fine I guess, considering its super old, but the surrounding area was pretty meh.  If it wasn't for the Green Monster, Fenway has very little charm.

No!  This was back when they were good.  I got to go the Bears-Panthers playoff game many years ago for free.  Bears lost of course.

There is something nostalgic…

There is something nostalgic or a certain charm about watching sports in an outdoor stadium. I don’t know what it is, but I prefer it, even when the weather is horrible.  I just feel like I’m part of the experience when I get wet/cold/sweaty/hot/etc

I had a GF many years ago whose family had season tickets to the Bears. But they hated going to games with bad weather. Because of that, I had free tickets to Bears games anytime after Thanksgiving.
