I’m so sorry to hear that…

I’m so sorry to hear that Brian. We love your writing, but please take care of yourself first. Wishing you better days ahead, and soon.

Thanks for transcribing, I…

Thanks for transcribing, I appreciate seeing the whole statement and not just pull quotes.

Every once in a while I…

Every once in a while I visit the RBUAS blogspot, because I guess hope springs eternal but also his last post is a beautiful piece full of Denard smiles. May it live on the internet forever.

Thanks for staying, Brian. We are all so grateful.

Thank you, your comment made…

Thank you, your comment made my day! I do prefer lurking, I can’t keep up with these crazy comment sections. But I appreciate the welcome!

Hey now, I listen to the…

Hey now, I listen to the podcast every week and I’m a woman. We exist!! :)

We already have a 2nd fight

We already have a 2nd fight song, and it's a great one! I'm sad that Varsity has become the forgotten stepchild of Michigan songs. I learned to play piano from my dad's glee club songbook, and that was always my favorite. But the band stopped playing the verse, and nobody knows the chorus anymore!

Where's the Griese love?

I was a 14-year-old teenybopper in 1997, and while my friends were putting pictures of Leo in their lockers mine was dedicated to Brian Griese. He was a field general, clutch at the end of the game, overcame adversity, and of course totally dreamy. My parents still have my collection of newspaper clippings from that season, if anybody would like to revisit the story of Brian taking a handicapped girl from Mott's to her prom... What I would've given for MGoBlog back then!

I got one of these snarky DB responses in 2010

I sent DB an email back when they were discussing moving the M-OSU game, here is Dave's response:

"Thank you for explaining the importance of the Michigan –OSU rivalry to me.  I appreciate your wisdom and input….

We are working hard to find solutions that make sense and will pass muster with all conference participants and officials.

Go Blue!

Dave"

Not at a "find a new team" level, but the condescension sure didn't make me like him more.

I stayed because...

.... I was in the band. As you can see from the gif, the MMB had the perfect sideline, front-row seats to Braylonfest. Yeah putting the band on the field was an easy ploy to sell more tickets, but being on the field for 2004 MSU and 2003 OSU was pretty amazing!

Awesome idea!

I have those cards too, and I force my friends to learn some Michigan football history when they thought they were just coming over for game night.... They probably hate it, but I love it!

Have these people ever tried

Have these people ever tried to access the internet from their phone from Michigan Stadium? Tweeting or facebook-ing is an exercise in luck and patience, at least with AT&T. Why can't they just use ticket scans like every other student section in the country? That would be harder to cheat, more accurate, more data, and more reliable.

I always looked forward to

I always looked forward to Johnny's articles in HTTV especially, his writing is a nice change of pace. Guess Brian couldn't convince him to come out of hiding this year.

Even so, I can't wait to read!! I'm glad the cover has been upgraded, since HTTV inevitably ends up on my coffee table for the whole year.

Not all "student fees" are created equal

For example, at Virginia, all students can go to all sporting events for free. So for the student fee number to be comparable, all schools would have to include their student ticket revenue. It's still unfair to basically force your student body to pay for athletic tickets, but every athletic department is getting money from students in some form.

To me, an MGoHallOfFamer is

To me, an MGoHallOfFamer is someone whose popularity increased the most due to the existence of the blog. For example, everyone loved Jake Long because he was good, but I loved Molk beyond his abilities because of all the UFR insights and curmudgeony interviews I read here. Hart, Graham and Molk get my vote.

But on that note, I would definitely petition for Zoltan to be included next year. Sure he was a punter, but he provided the blog's motto for years! And all the t-shirts!

Way back in 2004...

... I bussed to both MSU and OSU with the Maize Rage, they had gotten a block of tickets from the athletic department. Must be a standing tradition, at least for schools within driving distance.

I maintain that Littlejohn's

I maintain that Littlejohn's deliciousness comes more from the price and the fact that you can get a sandwich at 3am than the taste. Of course, a 3am sandwich is not a feature to be taken lightly, especially in Cville...

Great preview!

I've attended both schools, but my loyalties are Blue all the way. Can't wait to see our team in person! I hear the DC/Richmond Alumni Association sold out their 250+ person block, so hopefully we'll be able to make some noise.

Also, Littlejohn's? They're okay, but Bodo's everything bagels are perfection :)

posted from iPhone

I've been a die-hard Wolverine for my entire life, but my hate for OSU became personal on my first trip to the 'shoe in 2002. As a member of the MMB, we started the day at the skull session where we were heralded with boos and endless choruses of "We Don't Give A Damn For The Whole State Of Michigan". The worst part were the looks of pure hatred coming from the OSU band itself. Then of course we march to the stadium with police escorts to protect us from the violent masses, perform to a chorus of boos (pretty exciting actually), and then suffer through that horribly painful game. Then, we get to sit in the stands and wait while their fans rush the field, try to tear down the goalposts, and throw any available debris at us. Fun fact: marching band hats can also function as protective helmets! The only enjoyable part of the whole day was watching buckeye fans get pepper sprayed.

<br>After that day, my hatred for Ohio went to a whole new level.

Perfect analogy

"Undergrads who work in research labs. They’re most effective when told to do one thing only. Variety is overrated."

So true. However, the fear level varies widely depending on the undergrad; in our lab we've had kids ranging from "surprisingly helpful" to "in constant danger of blowing crap up when performing the most simple of tasks".

Oregon's kevlar pro combat

Oregon's kevlar pro combat unis are one thing, but I highly doubt sparkly shamrock helmets are a big selling point to the under-18 crowd. Of course, this is Notre Dame, so all attempts at being cool are expected to fail miserably.
