I will be watching the post

I will be watching the post game band show while sitting on the players bench as I have done after every victory against OSU since the early 90's

I will pay $100 for anyone who sneaks in a banner that says MMB is all we need or something similar/more creative next week.  Banner must get on TV.

I am not kidding

"That being said, I don't

"That being said, I don't think a recession will hurt housing near colleges, in fact it could even boost prices"

The last recession in 2008 hurt housing prices, rental rates and everything else near colleges.

"In the last two recessions, a lot of people who lost their jobs went to grad school to "wait out the job cycle"."

This absolutely will not happen next time.  No adults over 22 years old will be moving back to college to attend school in person.  Every major university has online versions of their MBA programs including Michigan.

You don't need to get new

You don't need to get new tickets.  Just whine to the usher enough to seat you in the wheelchair section.

No it is not worth trying to

No it is not worth trying to get different seats.  I have had many different seats in the many years as a season ticket holder, and using other peoples seats, stubhub etc.

Tickets behind the wheelchair row are great.  People in wheelchairs might be slightly elevated, but their companions, of which there are sometimies 2-3 have normal seats.  Also, they usually do not stand.

Your visibility issues are no worse than anywhere else in the stadium and probably better.

Also, you have no one in front of you.  Just a large aisle.  Would you rather have your knees in someones back all afternoon?

Yeah,
I didn't get it.  She

I miss making those evaluations.  Probably the only thing I miss now that I'm married.

Her problem was that she

Her problem was that she thought her kids would not be able to see from where they were.

She somewho obtained tickets for the wheelchair row and wanted to use them even though that row was full of wheelchairs and companions.

It's not hard to see at all.

It's not hard to see at all.  I bring my kids all the time.  I would say behind the wheelchair row is the best seats in the house except the wheelchair row.  My kids don't really care that much, they just like all the excitement and noise.  Her kids (and her husband) didn't seem to care either.

I am fully aware of this.  I

I am fully aware of this.  I made a mint on craftsman tools for a while.  One thing people don't realize is that they don't replace tools if they are old, dirty, or dingy looking.

Also, the warranty is pretty much worthless now as all "Craftsman tools are made in china and totally crap these days.  If I take in one of my made in USA socket wrenches they will replace it with a made in china pos.

I got fired from Zingermans

I got fired from Zingermans about 15 years ago and it took me about a year to find a new job.  During this time I made a living by buying items at garage sales and flipping them on Ebay.   I also made good money during this time scalping football tickets.

Coolest things I found

1.  A collection of about 20 team issued practice jerseys from the 80's.  Bought for about $5 and sold for about $100 each

2.  Old McIntosh tube stereo in working condition bought for a few bucks and sold for at least $1000.  I really made out on a lot of vintage stereo equipment.

3.  A huge stack of Pink Panther cells that I bought from one of the original illustrators that was living in Canton at the time.  I bought the whole stack for $400 and made a mint on those.

4.  Very early Atari 2600 system "heavy sixer" made in Sunnyvale CA.  I did great at this time on vintage video games.

I have also hosted many garage sales.  Probably the most I have made in a weekend is about 3 grand.  It all depends on how much stuff you have and the quality.  If you have 2 grand worth of craftsman tools, old dudes will buy it all within hours or less.

Again, False.  Ever tried to

Again, False.  Ever tried to ship a boat trailer?  Old popup camper?  Beat up lawn tractor?

Shitty big ass floor lamp?

Ebay and Craigslist have probably increased garage sailing as you now have all kinds of people out there trying to buy garage sale stuff and flip it for profit online.

Best idea so far.  Drive the

Best idea so far.  Drive the minivan home.  Work harder for a few years then buy the house next to your uncled and get a bigger boat than his.

Ohio is worst followed closely by Michigan

The worst problem in Michigan is that noone seems to understand the zipper merge yet.

I was recently in New York city, Brooklyn and then upstate New York and couldn't believe how efficient the zipper merge is.  They do it in Oregon too (just there a few weeks ago)

I drive right at the speed limit and stay in the right lane.  I can't believe how many people tailgate me.

Lots of safe cars for not a

Lots of safe cars for not a lot of money.  Rusty does not mean unsafe.

I am married, and she drove a

I am married, and she drove a shit bomb that she bought herself too.  My parents and hers taught us to be self reliant and we will teach our kids the same.  Neither one of us have ever financed a car or anything else (except the house and that is almost paid off too)

I am not going to take a 10,000 chunk out of my retirement fund to by my kid a car thats for sure.

So many of my friends my age and older (41) have tons of debt and no savings.  There are no more pensions anymore.  These people have 2-3 financed cars per family still have college loans etc.  My kids will learn a different way.

I won't be buying my kids any car

If my kids want a car when they turn 16 they can get a job and buy one like I did.

I paid $250 for a datsun 310gx and drove it for 4 years.

I would move it to Los

I would move it to Los Angeles.

Waste of time and effort

My goal with my kids is for them to have a happy and productive life like I do.

Instead of 3 hrs per day at the ball field, I will spend a few hours a week teaching them high level computer networking and professional problem solving.  When or if they graduate from college they can go into work when they want and bill a buck 25 an hour and goof off the rest of the time.  My wife does the same, although she has a real job (gotta get insurance somehow)

Look at what the future holds for careers.  You might as well teach your kids how to play slot machines if you think they are going to make a career out of football, or any other sport.

Best theory I've heard so far.

Harbaugh believes he can recruit nationally

None of your scenarios make sense.  Harbaugh is opening up pipelines to New Jersey (obviously)  Florida and California.  He has just decided not to spend much effort in Ohio.  Look, we only have one committed recruit from Michigan this year.

Harbaugh is big time and  has hired big time coaches who are big time recruiters.

This year is only the beginning.

Speed

Just curious if anyone knows how this guy got all this speed since he didn't start playing football until his Junior year?  Did he run track before?  Soccer?

Seems like 2 years of football conditioning isn't alot.  I guess maybe some guys are just naturally fast.

This is my favorite from one

This is my favorite from one of the articles

In the past four years, the university has doubled the number of portable toilets available on game days, she said. On Saturday, there will be more than 90 port-a-loos -- about the same as last season.

But because officials anticipate large crowds, a contractor will clean them at midday, said Mike Penner assistant athletic director for event management. Ohio State has never done that before.

"Ohio State has never done that before"  Its as if cleaning johns at midday is something to aspire to, or some magical strategy that only they could have come up with.  Did they consult professors at the city and regional planning program to come up with this?

90 Johns on game day.  Simple math says thats about 1 john for every 1100 ticketed people.  Add in non ticketed tailgaters and thats about 1 john per 1500.  More amazing is that this number is double what it was 4 years ago.

I bet there are at lest 90 johns just at the golf course for our games.  There are Johns just about everywhere here but there are still long lines.  No wonder they have an epidemic of cooler poopers down there.  I can't believe it's not worse than it is.

For any buckeye trolls who may be reading, here's a good solution for you.  Go on ebay and buy the cheapest used coolers you can find.  If you find yourself unable to wait in line after 15 Busch Lights, and 1/2 pound of peanut butter buckeye balls you can confidently crap in your cheap cooler and just leave it behind.  I might even suggest bringing a backup cooler or 2.  Good luck.

Please don't post in all

Please don't post in all caps.  It gives most of us a headache.  Also,  I don't really know what you said since as soon as I see 2 capital letters in a row, I stop reading.

Please review this document.

Brass

So far it has seemed very

So far it has seemed very predictable to me.

1.  Class starts filling up

2.  Harbaugh realizes lots of 4* and other desirable recruits still in play

3.  Our lowest ranked recruits magically begin to decommit.

4.  Higher ranked/more desirable recruits magically start committing.

I wonder if more of these same higher ranked/more desirable recruits continue to commit over the next 3 weeks?  Ya think?

Come on

The funny side note is that mainstream sports media seems entirely clueless and thinks this is some sort of disaster that all these guys are decommitting.

What kind of douche chooses to root for OSU?

If you're not from ohio and you choose to root for them, you are the biggest douche of all time.

This is akin to chosing to become a sith lord.  Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.

On another note,  maybe a buckeye fan bit him?  I have always thought that if a buckeye fan bites you then you will become a buckeye fan kinda like the walking dead.  Because of this, I can no longer take my kids to the Toledo zoo (ever notice how much red and grey there is at that place?)

I don't like your signature.

I don't like your signature.  If Jim wins the presidency (which he would if he ran)  When would he have time to coach the team?

Another problem is we called/interviewed a bunch of other guys who just were not interested in joining the sol.

Agreed.  Calvin is a great

Agreed.  Calvin is a great player but definitely not the goat.  He doesn't even crack my top ten.  I don't even have him as the greatest Lions receiver of all time.  I think Perriman and Moore were both better than him at least for a short time.

Calvin is great, but I consider him borderline hall of fame.  If this was Baseball he wouldn't even be close.

Calvin is 43rd all time in receptions.  27th all time receiving yards.  22nd in receiving yards.

I like him a lot and he will be missed but hopefully we can get a gm who can use the extra cap money properly.

If we cut him then we are on

If we cut him then we are on the hook for roughly 13 million dollars in dead money.  Essentially, we are paying him to play for another team.  If he retires, then his entire cap his is gone.  Somewhere between 20-23 million.  Thats a lot of money to spend on other players although I'm sure the lions would use it all on wide receivers all the while drafting wide receivers in high rounds.

Actually, I think Johnson

Actually, I think Johnson would defnitely talk retirement at this point if he were playing for the Patriots.  He would have already one a few championships and have little left to play for.

Are you sure there was no

Are you sure there was no year 0 or is anyone?

Around 525 Dionysius invented the Anno Domini era.

1.  Dionysius set conception and birth prior to the year he called 1

2.  It wasn't until about 2 centuries later that the English historian Bede began the practice of counting the years before 1 ad as "BC" years.  Since the concept of 0 and of negative numbers was unknown to him he started with 1 BC.

Most Christians and most everyone else follow this calendar which begins at the conception of Christ which happened at least 9 months prior to AD 1 at least according to the first Monk who created the counting system used in our modern calendar.

"I mean...I just cannot understand how people don't get simple math"

Most everyone here does get simple math.  Did you take any other classes in college?

Many more factors go into determining when the millenium changes than just math, the most important of which is when people perceive it to change.

Everyone understands simple

Everyone understands simple math.  Everyone understands there was no year 0.

Almost all cultures following our calendar have decided to celebrate the beginning of the millenia on the year 1000 and 2000 and will again in year 3000.  This is not a mathematical argument, it is a political, social, common knowledge etc argument.

Everyone but you  recognizes that the 90's do not include the year 2000.  The 90's are 1990-1999.

Am I really having this argument?

This is not simple math.  It

This is not simple math.  It is a case where math doesn't really apply.  It is common knowledge that just about every culture on the earth celebrated the new millenium on Jan 1 2000 at midnight.  Are you trying to tell us that almost every other living person on the earth was wrong that day?  I spent a lot of money on a double magnum of Dom so I guess that makes me the dumbass?  Did you listen to Prince growing up?  We partied like it's 1999 because that was the end of the millenium and 2000 was the start of the new.

You don't need to go to Michigan to understand common knowledge.  When somone says the 90's they mean 1990-1999.  Come on.
