what did the lions give up…

what did the lions give up to move up in the first round?

good call.  having trouble…

good call.  having trouble reading.  stiff.  stuttering.  maybe a few too many cocktails with some back meds?

i got a load of football…

i got a load of football playing sons of same or similar ages.  they don't wear anything even remotely like that.  ever.

whoever advises many of…

whoever advises many of these kids on their draft-night outfits should be fired.   bad suits and bad bling is not the way to make your national TV premiere.

i think that guy is a value…

i think that guy is a value pick there.  athleticism is outstanding.  unless there are character issues (none that i know of), they done good getting him.

they are saying 275,000…

they are saying 275,000 people in attendance at the draft in detroit.  wow.

quit with the wild guesses…

quit with the wild guesses and get serious.

obviously gifted, but i have…

obviously gifted, but i have to imagine that it's tough on the body and cuts down on their shelf life.  only so much the bones and ligaments can take in the human body, and moving that fast with that much bulk has got to take a big toll.

i agree that it's risky,…

i agree that it's risky, thus my post above.  and as a lions fan, other than JJ, i hope their draft is an epic failure.

i will say that there have…

i will say that there have been some incredibly large human beings getting drafted.  6' 8", 6' 9", 340+ and athletic.

i can see that as a very…

i can see that as a very reasonable take, but still, they gave up a metric ton of picks.

a veritbable skeleton crew…

a veritable skeleton crew....

vikes just gave up a…

vikes just gave up a boatload of draft picks to move up from 23 to 17,

along with a 3rd and 4th from next year's draft?   yeesh.

just an observation:  for…

just an observation:  for all the talent purchased by ohio, long before NIL was legal or really in force, they have exactly one guy taken so far.  admittedly, MHJ, jr deserved it.   but that's it. one guy.

any team that picks him will be very, very glad.

i sea, could be a whale of a problem.  hopefully the departures will tail off to a snail's pace.

i think its moray that he…

i think its moray that he eels he can't fin-ish his career here.  could also be that he might've gotten a conch on the head, or the coaches are too crabby for him.

i am not taking the bait on…

i am not taking the bait on that pun, you hammerhead.

and for all or nearly all of…

and for all or nearly all of the game v. illinois, the sun was out.  granted, it was windy and all, but it wasn't an ugly day.  we knew what we were headed into though, but proudly claiming my yooper roots, it was no big deal, holy wah!

Prefixed with a word that…

Prefixed with a word that rhymes with ducking.

it was the drive home up…

it was the drive home up north after that game that made that game such a zinger for weather.  absolute blizzard, white-out conditions, cars littered on the side of the road the whole way home.  i was passing county plow trucks like slalom gates on a ski hill, but we made it home.

i said last season that…

i said last season that campbell (MCDC) was the NFL version of harbaugh - took character over flash, toughness over stats, and it paid off big time.  i loved his line in the team room, 'these seats are not for everybody'.

was at that NFC champ game in SF.  despite the loss, glad that i went.  like virtually all of us lions fans (excepting don, who built the pyramids and watched the lions in the coliseum), it was by far the most memorable lions season of my life.

when i played out west i was…

when i played out west i was one of two guys from michigan on the team, the other was our #1 RB who had played at iowa.  when it would rain in socal and temps would be in the 40's or 50's, our teammates would complain about the weather.  we would shame them mercilessly, using words you cannot say in polite company.

i only ever played in…

i only ever played in outdoor stadiums.  much prefer them, weather and all.

i have coached in a domed stadium, it was weird.  i'm not going to say it was unpleasant, but there is something missing and i didn't like it as much.

Great kid

you are a liar and a coward…

you are a liar and a coward.

others called you out, not me.  i basically asked if you were okay.  i didn't neg you, others did.  i didn't call you 'so wounded' , 'candyass' or 'an idiot', others did.

you shouldn't be working with children, you have deep issues.  you need to be working with a therapist.

you've never had the guts to reveal any of your prior banned user names.  you've been around here long enough to know 'talking cars' is a regular OT thread.  indeed, close to 200 posts in response.  seems to have been well-received.

and if any bit of you manufacturing a 'happy life' is true, please realize that makes what you did yesterday and today that much more bizarre.

get help.  stay away from children.

look sport, i didn't bring…

look sport, i didn't bring it up, others did.   read their comments calling you a 'butthurt candyass'.  are they projecting also or just noticing really strange behavior.  trying to be serious, you are having a virtual aneurism of unprovoked hate and bizarre behavior.  you will note that i haven't neg'd you.   i can only imagine what is going tragically wrong in your life and i'm trying my imperfect best to not pile on.  the bitterness and disappointment that would drive you to do what you did today for absolutely no reason, i can't fathom it.   i remember you did this once last year but were able to gain self-control.  try that again.  i feel sorry for you.  get help.  whatever is eating at you is not healthy.  try friendships, family, faith, whatever, but get some help.  if it's any help, go ahead and neg all my posts if that makes your situation better.

FWIW, we have a herd of ford…

FWIW, we have a herd of ford 1-tons, have owned them for decades, and had to replace exactly one tranny on one truck at about 180K miles in that entire time.  anecdotal, i know.

and diesel fuel got…

and diesel fuel got expensive because.....'we' decided to tax the snot out of it.  makes zero sense.

diesel is easier and cheaper to make (we make it here on the farm), you can use much lower grade crude, provides more energy per gallon, and with the new technologies, burns very clean.    still a big diesel fan.

hey WC, are you okay today? …

hey WC, are you okay today?  something eating at you?  you kind of threw a shoe in that other thread.  wondering if you got some bad news, something serious.

no, you actually do need to…

no, you actually do need to go 0-60 in 3.2.  get to the dealership.

which comment just caused me to check.  it is our friend.....wrestling coach.

i assume he has body parts like tony tiny-bootie, our B10 president.   either that, or he is having a really, really bad day and i'd want to be empathetic about that.  i doubt it, but i'll hold out the possibility

IIRC you do or did work on the front end of a GM dealership.  if i'm right, did you ever get a feel for whether that small diesel was reliable/dependable/worth getting?

its actually a stealth diesel truck, covered in radar-defeating coating.  won't show up on radar, but you might be able to track the heat signature.
