Which is strange because he had to have shown something as a blocker at practice to be on the field. Shoot he was out there with O’Leary in the second half in the Rose Bowl blocking.
Also, he seemed pretty jovial after the NCG putting confetti in his shoe.
Bringing up Channel 50 brings back such great memories for me. I remember huddling around our only TV (27" placed on the floor in a homemade wooden 'entertainment box') and watching the Daily 3 and 4 drawing while I wrote down the numbers for Grandma and Grandpa; and after that Ray Lane would start the Red Wings or Tigers pregame.
Me at the time would have thought the Television quality and options I have now would be the greatest thing ever. Me now wants to go back in time and say "You don't know how good you have it."
Actually, if you want to get technical, the last 6 starting WRs who finished their careers at Michigan were all drafted: DPJ, Nico, Bell, CJ, Roman, and Mikey (albeit not as a WR).
I really hope the staff is in contact with Elijiah Badger. Class of 2020 WR out of ASU. Caught 65 and 70 passes the past two years. 6’2. Seems like someone you would want to offer a nice size cheeseburger to.
I get that legal fees of the magnitude that Mel has been tied in can be extremely expensive (no doubt for him it has been in the 7-figure range), however I still struggle to comprehend how someone like him is already pulling money from his retirement to make ends meet. He has netted well over $20-25 million dollars in his career. Take into account everything his bank account probably received around 12-15 million over the course of his coaching career.
I just can't fathom spending basically all of that. I get it's easier when you (unless royally f-ing up) have 75 million more guaranteed coming your way, but still. It doesn't compute honestly because I never have nor ever will have that type of capital. However, I've been able to have probably the most middle of middle class jobs, be a single income family with 3 kids and another on the way, and even I think I have more than I need to have a very comfortable life for my family and future. Maybe it's the fact that I never picked up an expensive cigar and whisky hobby like Mel (not to mention how much he may have spent on OnlyFans).
I was always indifferent on the guy once he was hired and throughout his first 3 years. Thought he was just "meh" at best and "kinda crap" at worst as a football coach.

Chop would be the greatest luxury if we had another EDGE who can be a real good 1st and 2nd down guy. Chop is the best pass rusher in the draft but he’s soooo underdeveloped as a run stopper. Thanks Manny Dias

It felt just like yesterday we were watching the confetti fall, and in just a little more than the time that elapsed since the Championship game, we will see team 145 touch the banner and wreck Fresno St.
QB should be “good enough.” Throw Tuttle in the mix and we have a few guys who can manage a team with the cast we have. I would not be surprised if we do not find out the starter til the week of the first game.
RBs look phenomenal. The Don and Mullings are the real deal as a 1-2. I was surprised Dunlap stuck around because all that we’ve heard about Hall, but man did he shine today.
OL is still TBD. They will be good, but the question is how long until they (or if they) become great.
WR is thin and I don’t know how they’ll address that. Morris does look like a bonafide #1 and we know Semaj is a playmaker. Moore has a great frame but didn’t stand out today. I expect to see quite a bit of O’Leary out there this year.
Tight End U. Not much else needed to say except I’ll emphasize some of the young guys seem to love to block.
DL depth question may have had some pleasant answers today. Ike and Koumba surprised me. TJ Guy also is a good B1G starter level just behind two AA level players.
LB will be a point of strength. Very happy with our 2-deep currently. Secondary will be good as well. Will is Will and we don’t have an AA safety with Rod gone, but we have two veterans back there and Waller I think is CB2. Hill maybe can grab the nickel spot.
That Rose Bowl ring is perfection in jewelry. It really was the most perfect season conceivable. I hope in the future there is a season that is near this level, but I don’t think it’s possible to have a greater one. Undefeated (only team in FBS), embarrass MSU on their own turf. Beat OSU when both teams were undefeated. Out of all the NY6 Bowls we played and won THE ROSE BOWL vs Goliath, and then proved beyond a shadow of a doubt in the championship game. Best team in 144 years
Overall, I love the look; especially the home jerseys. The classic look and the nod to the true “Honolulu Blue” is great.
I do have a couple of issues. 1. The word mark on the away Jersey is not necessary. I am very opposed to home and away jerseys not being identical other than the colors (I’ve always been against the sleeve stripes on our White jerseys and the numbers being on the shoulder instead of the arm).
2. Black Jersey is sharp. Blue helmet looks great with it. I just would have liked the logo to be white instead of black.
Seth always loved him. I thought he was a good blitzer (a tier below Barrett level) and a pretty good thumper when filling the gap and getting into his run fit. He did struggle at times ID-ing things. He was the culprit on a couple of those long KW-III runs vs MSU in 2021. I wouldn't hold the Georgia game against him as he had to come in because Colson was lost beyond identification that game.
If the players and coaches want him back, I think they're earned that benefit of the doubt. Having him, Rolder, and Hood as your 3 backup LBs is a pretty good position to be in. Especially with the chance that both starters could be gone after this season.
One other player in a similar mold that I am pulling for big time this season is TJ Guy. He has shown now in small sample sizes for the last 3 years that he is a player. However he was buried behind the likes of Hutch, Ojabo, Morris, McGregor, Harrell, Stewart, and Moore.
In today’s college football what players who have shown that they can be a player, stick around for 3 years to wait their time and embrace the program. It’s stuff like that as to why we have had the 3 year run that we’ve had. We truly are different.

Did he go and present his vast network theory to a position coach, or Minter, or even Harbaugh? Highly doubtful. He may have said "yeah I'm really good at this and I have a way to be the best at it." And whoever he said that to probably was like "okay." And then forgot the name of the person who even said that.
Same thing goes for probably the PI firm. Did Day go out on his own and hire a PI firm? Doubtful. Did some eager guy maybe mention to someone lower-level that "hey I have a scoop on Michigan and why they beat us and it wasn't because they ran the ball nearly every play in the second half of 2021." The staffer he told this to probably said "oh yeah, look into that." Perhaps it works it's way up the chain to Day and he goes "well if there is any teeth to that let me know."
As far as the Weiss situation, I won't confirm but I am definitely not denying the well-regarded theory about what he was doing on the computer and what he was looking for. There was not a good relationship prior with him and the individual he was allegedly trying to catch tampering.
I have no idea what happened with Mike Hart, but I can imagine whatever it is, it probably is hurting him more than anyone else. I hope whatever his future looks like it is fruitful and filled with joy; whether it is on the field or not. I hope it was not anything that will keep him from coming back and being honored like he deserves.
And sadly in a lot of these games, the Big Ten team is overmatched right from the tip. Which of the 8 had even a chance in their games? 2015 Wisconsin, 2013 Michigan, 2005 Illinois.
From the start, 2024 Purdue, 2018 Michigan, 2009 MSU, and 2007 OSU didn’t stand much of a chance.
One of my sons was born the night/early morning before the game. My wife was able to have some great pictures of us in the hospital and me holding him with the game in the background. I think it was foreshadowing for the next two years in football vs OSU.
I always liked T-Will. He frustrated the heck out of me these last two years, but he was asked to do more than I think his right role ideally would have been. In 2021 he was the perfect garbage man off the bench for a couple minutes and would hustle, rebound, and play D. He had two very important tip-ins vs LSU in the 2nd round of 2021 when LSU was starting to stretch a lead. In 2022 he had a great game at OSU without Hunter that helped us secure a bid.
Best of luck kid. Degree in hand, B1G champ, played in two tournaments and was one of the few this year whose effort never seemed to wane .
I’ve been a bit out of the loop about her. I remember her when she was at Baylor and she came off mildly annoying. I heard her presser the other day and was pretty impressed. What’s the big disdain for her from?
He did run a “dirty program” based on how he acquired recruits. However, I don’t think I have actually ever heard anyone who coached with him or played for him that didn’t express 100% admiration for who he was as a man.
