That was the first time I got to go to The Game in person, as a teenager. I remember vividly how excited I was that morning, with all my gear carefully chosen and laid out the night before.
The only home Game I've missed since was 87 (college out of state, cut me a break!), and you'd better believe I'll have my gear laid out this Friday.

This does not make us somehow "even" for the 3 and a half hours you dribbled pudding down your collective chin in Ann Arbor on October 17, helping make that game loseable in the first place. That said, it is much appreciated that you decided to spread your incompetent jackassery around, especially to its most recent beneficiary.
On the "how rich was that irony?" scale, this was foie gras wrapped in moist chocolate cake topped with a stick of butter, slathered in alfredo sauce and eaten while wearing an "I HEART UMAMI" t-shirt. (Coincidentally, that was also Bret Bielema's post-game snack.)
That's the first explanation I've heard of targeting reviews that would make sense of the terrible Bolden call -- it'd be a stupid rule, but it would make sense of that play anyway. But I'm not sure it'd make sense of all the no-targeting replay decisions on Rudock this year (and I'm not thinking here of the no-calls, just the couple of calls that were made on the field then reversed).
Pretty bad sign that I'd need to make that clarification...
You have to admire the first guy who looked at a half pound patty of grilled 80/20 beef and thought to himself, "You know what this could use? Something to add protein and just a liiiittle more fat. Now where are those eggs . . ."
In the miserably long time it took to exit the stadium, that's exactly what I saw: after celebrating the TD and after coming down to the south end zone, their players ran to the NW corner. It had nothing to do with the injured player; they had their backs to the field, facing and woofing at the student section. This is totally separate from whatever the immediate post-score reaction of the players (and students) was -- several minutes later. Bush league, man.
Colorado 1994 definitely unraveled thanks to Mo's conservative playcalling when we got the lead (though he might still hae had it if not for the false start on 3rd & 2 of our last possession!). I think it's accurate to say that while Mo was schematically more aggressive than Lloyd, they were similarly conservative in some important strategic respects.
As an aside, this sure makes me pine for the days when you thought a completely gut-ripping loss in a high-profile intersectional game was about the worst thing that could happen.
For heaven's sake, Mo brought the no-huddle offense to Ann Arbor 18 years before Rich Rod! I've always felt he deserved more credit for modernizing our offense; in those days, I often thought what held us back the most were our passive defensive schemes devised by some guy named Carr (who fortunately made a better HC than DC). Count me a huge Mo fan.
Fisher didn't win "multiple Big 10 championships" -- in fact, he didn't win a single one. The closest he came was 92-93 (Fab 5 yr 2) when they finished 2nd.
You have to admit, that's pretty good for 100 men under his care. Let's face it: Not everybody's the perfect person in the world. I mean everyone kills people, murders people, steals from you, steals from me, whatever.

Harbaugh is not "our coach," and he was not "hired away" from Michigan (or, as of this moment, hired by anyone). And Ross wanting Michigan athletics to be successful would be precisely the reason to pause and ask whether the activities of his professional team were coming in conflict with the school . . . to which he was reportedly told no. Maybe I'm dense, but I'm not following this indignation at all.
I agree Brandon's comments about competitive salary are (yet another) reason Hoke is just not happening. In particular, he emphasized that he'd made clear to MSC and the regents -- "my boss and my boss's bosses" -- we should no longer be paying middle of the pack salary. No way, no how could Brady Hoke command even as much as Rich Rod, let alone more -- heck, I think he'd do it pro bono.
I don't share the assumption that Brandon wasn't trying to land Harbaugh in December. It's equally consistent with all the evidence, and IME more plausible, that he was trying and thought he had a shot but Harbaugh wasn't going to decide anything for certain until after his bowl. I also read that into the substance and tenor of his comments today about Harbaugh, but I freely concede we are all reading tea leaves here since he played it so close to the vest the last 45 days. (Which is, again, consistent with him playing out a back channel communication as so many thought.)
..but I don't think there was an overcommitment to process here. Rather, I think the "evaluation process" was, in effect, cover to allow him to pursue Harbaugh as Plan A and bring back RR with new coordinators as Plan B -- until the bowl performance, as well as the public reaction to it (evidenced here and many other places), made Plan B infeasible.
Not just in Brian's line, but in many comments on this issue. Make no mistake, at this point I'll certainly be awfully disappointed (on many levels) if Harbaugh is offered the job and turns it down, but it's not like he owes a duty to the school or anyone else to accept it. He spent 5 years on the team and another 10 or so growing up near the program, but he also spent 16 years in the NFL -- it may just be the case that he's a guy who considers the NFL the biggest stage to prove his talents. If that's the case, we've just got to deal and move on. At least we'll know soon.
