I

I dont see anyone listing this, but one of my favorite plays of the weekend is Missouri +3 over Kentucky

Nice

Nice post, Ace.

I believe that PAT for the Gophers was the first kicked extra point made on the season against UM.

Harbaugh

Harbaugh kills 2-3 offseason days a week just by being himself. So fun and entertaining.

And a whole lot better than offseasons being dominated by either constant player departures or sulry, in-hiding coach/AD duos.

Sincerely yours in football,

Jamie Mac

I like him

I like him personally, but am getting tired of his work.

My

My top 5 are a little different

5.) The last 8 quarters of the MSU series. 4rth and 48. 7 sacks. Finally getting a TD late in the 8th quarter and our OC celebrating like we won the Rose Bowl. And, of course, the Tent Spike.

4.) ND 2012......five straight interceptions? If only we had an elite runner to lean on in those situations.....

3.) Spot Reserved For The 2014 Heart of Dallas Bowl against Rice

2.) 2014 NW. I refused to tweet during this game, I wanted the 0-0 score so much, I didnt want to jinx it like talking about a no hitter

1.) 8 quarters in a row that were the Akron and UConn 2013 games. Either would have been the worst Non Horror Loss in recent program history. Instead they might share the honor as Worst Michigan Wins Ever

Although maybe I need to reconsider. How does Utah 2014 not make the list. The game ended in front of like 500 people after a 2-hour rain delay

Michigan

Michigan has the dumbest, most disorganized coaching staff in America. So frustrated by this. I'd trust this team to any of the high school coaches here in Toledo right now over these guys.

I

I will be watching. But there's no way this week's game gets put on my main TV with all the other great games going on. Sigh

Mullen

Mullen is in a weird spot.  Miss St could struggle all fall and he could be replaced. Or, they can repeat their LSU effort a number of times and get plucked for a higher profile job. Interesting situation for him

Coaching

Coaching transitions are not the problem. Hiring crappy coaches is the problem

I

I could not explain it any better than Nick just did. I will point out in horse racing, the odds you bet are fluid and can and will change up to post time. But a bet on the football or basketball game, the odds you get when you place the bet is set in stone, regardless of any future line movements.

Dantonio

Dantonio to a new job. Any new job.

So

So if the Under 7.5 hits, does that mean Fire Hoke?

I

I got a happy email a couple weeks that said basically 'great news, you're eligible to buy 2 more season tickets if you want.'  I almost bit on the offer as a couple extra seats might come in handy next fall, but I just didnt want to deal with trying to find takers for 2 more extras every home game this year.   I hope their next tactic with me isnt what's being alleged up above.  That and the focus group and other anecdotal stuff already in comments really breaks my heart. Good grief.

I

I wonder how many times you've typed out the following phrase since 2008: "You don't dig out of a hole as big as the one Michigan's in quickly."  Wait, maybe let's not answer that

Great

Great post, Ace!

Go Blue, Beat The Vols

Hey

Hey, I still think Nebraska has an at large chance. But they have to win their next 4 games--NW, at IU, Wisco and their first BTT Tourney game--add in a little out-of-town scoreboard bubble choas and I think they can sneak one of the last few bids. One thing to consider is the teams they're competing against arent setting the world on fire or have great resumes either......long way to go yet to slot those last several at large bids....nevertheless, great post BISB

I

I disagree that the SWAG has come back only during the last 2 years. It came back during D-Morris' sophomore year. He brought the swag back, along with freshman THJ HAM and Novak. They carried themselves the final 2 months or so of the season with a Fab 5 Era Swag and it hasnt left the program since.......

I get

I get what you're saying about Nebraska's bubble chances, but i feel like they have a better shot than what people are giving them. All of this assumes they continue to win. Compare Nebraska's resume to Georgetown, Providence, Oregon and St Joes. Those are the last four teams in the Bracket Matrix headed into the weekend. Nebraska compares alright with that bunch, should they keep winning and add another resume win, like at home vs Wisco in the regular season finale. I think they'll put themselves in position for a bid headed in the BTT and we'll see how they perform in that event

I

I think I said on one of the recent podcasts that IU could win this one with Yogi going off in a low possession game.

I

I forgot about Fisher. Good catch. I was surprised when I double checked the schollie, but the Fisher transfer had slipped my mind. Thats why they are one below now. I was as surprised to see Gordon has a schollie as there had been talk his family would just pay for the semester of school at IU when the news of his possible transfer began percolating.  They still didnt force Abel out. He was a big part of their plans this year.  Everybody knew all season that Creek would take advantage of the grad transfer rule all along, so there was always going to room. Shoot, they expected Abel to be their best returning on ball defender. This isnt nearly as sinister as Brian's narrative wants it to be.....Crean deserves a shit ton of flak for his behavior and mouth, but this misses the mark a bit

IU

IU is under the schollie limit by 1 this season. And that's with the summer addition of Evan Gordon, a 5th year transfer from ASU, who came aboard in the summer well after the Abel and Creek transfers. The program did not want Abel to transfer......I have several issues with Crean, but the claims here are somewhat exagerrated

Section One

Take a break. Seriously.

Worth

Worth pointing out that that 39-14 record since the Leadership Aneurysm is the best record in the conference in that span

Man

Man, no mention of me going from popular diarist to the JCB. Thanks for nothing, guys......

Hey

Hey, it's a way cooler form of media grab than lying about sky writing....

Lol, Lloyd Carr players. I

Lol, Lloyd Carr players. I bet mike martin didn't talk to Lloyd once on campus c....untill 2011, that is.

Hoke's success here has been on the shoulders of one man: denard Xavier Robinson. 17-4 with him, but since he was unavailable fully to be his QB and best player he is 10-9. And look at the wins: shaky ones vs Akron, UConn, cmu, two vs minny, two miracle, lucky as shit wins vs NW, IU.

Can't win games in a crappy B10, can't really beat anyone good.

11 of 17 games away from home, the team has fallen into a double digit hole. They look like they don't practice before road games.

His saving grace is 51 of 52 of his recruits are still on campus. Another's strong class is coming in. I am willing to let him coach these kids through as attrition was the programs biggest issue, even before RR. I am open to the possibility that Peppers can be the new Denard meal ticket for this staff.
But ask me again when we are down 17-3 at half in south bend--remember his O has shown no real ability to score TDs in road rivalry games--and I might sing a different tune.

But it's looking more and more like Hoke is like the 8th best coach out of 12 in this conference. Woof.

Lost

Lost in all the ridiculous whining about Michigan scheduling a heavyweight game to play, is discussion on how many TD passes Wilton Speight will toss to Drake Harris in this game. I set the O/U at 1.5. Place your bets. I am going with Over as he Drake launches his Heisman campaign

I

I agree. Drinks are on me in Dallas in 2017

You

You are more than welcome to give up whatever tickets you own as protest. I, however, will not be doing that. I like the 2015 home slate with BYU and Oregon St, not to mention MSU and OSU coming to town. Next year's home slate is one big woof, but it is what it is. I like most of our schedules going forward after that.

Agreed

Agreed, one hundred percent. I also dont know if most folks realize the high end home and homes UM has from 2018-2023 too. As I see it, it's either this game or a crap MACrifice to start 2017. I prefer this

UM

UM has done this. Home and homes with Arky, Va Tech (like OSU) and UCLA from 2018-23. Michigan has a single scheduling hole to fill from 2014-18 and this is what they chose to do. The choise wasnt do we play one nuetral site game with Florida or a home and home with them. Rather, the choice is what to do we do with this single opening. As a season ticket, I prefer what we've done over the strong liklihood of dealing with a crappy game like Eastern over Labor Day weekend, which annually are the hardest games for me to find anyone to travel up from Ohio with me to go.

UM

UM has true home and homes with Arkansas, Va Tech and UCLA on the docket from 2018-2023. They have one scheduling hole from 2014-2018 left to fill from the demise of the ND series. As a season ticket holder, I am way more excited about a 2017 game vs Florida in Dallas than a tomato can home game vs Eastern or something. Those games, especially on Labor Day weekend, suck all around. My brother and I had a blast in Dallas for the Bama game, despite the outcome. We will have another blast, hopefully with better results in 2017. I crack on Brandon a lot on my twitter feed, but this is a better good scheduling get, and gives UM a great shot at a pretty good resume if they're in playoff contention that season.

You

You misread. This is a post about heartbreaking outcomes and if it was one of the most heartbreaking years for UM. It has nothing to do with if this was literally the worst year. I'd like to hear a counter argument for another year more heartbreaking, instead of the usual dreck aimed at making people who post here feel like shit for doing so.

Well

Well, they have won 11 games three times in the last 4 years, so their sustainability is off to a pretty good start

As

As somebody whose suggested they expand the podcast and get Magnus (and other notable posters/bloggers) on there, I am hurt you havent listened to the podcast before........I need a hug

Why

Why do we put more value on what these guys say? Because they are former players? That really doesnt qualify as expertise. Dont forget former player Jalen Rose likes to say UM Hoops is back because our recruiting is now focused on Detroit. This just smacks of not needed player assassination

I

I dont know if that's true about UM defensive players and the draft. In the 13 drafts from 1996-2008, Michigan had 19 defenders chosen and in nine of those drafts it was just 1 or 0 UM players on D being picked. In 13 years, there were 8 guys picked in either Round 1 or Round 2. That's pretty good, but it's hardly spaced out. Half of those guys were selected in the 2007 draft off that killer 2006 D. Only 4 of those 13 drafts involved a UM defender being picked higher than the 3rd Round, with three of those just being 1 player. If you include drafts with a UM player picked higher than the 4rth Round, you only add one more draft. Michigan had a TON of players picked during this stretch, but a vast majority were on offense. Other than the 2000 draft (Gold, Williams, Dhani, Renes) and the 2007 draft (Hall, Branch, Woodley, Harris and Prescott) most draft days went by without much say from the UM Defense

Uh oh

Uh oh. The dreaded vote of confidence. Time to work on odds for the eventual Hoke firing date......

In

In my warm, cozy TV room. Mostly so I can watch other games when UM is on offense

BOOM!

BOOM! Lock the thread. No really, this is taking forever to read and keep up with.

Ronnie

Ronnie Hillman emerging as a future NFL TB as a freshman in their second season at SDSU turned it all around. Kudos to them for recruiting him and putting him in the lineup ASAP. I wonder if Hoke is even at UM right now if it took even a half season for that frosh stud to emerge

It's

It's clear from reading both Brian and SC that everything is terrible. Bang up job, Michigan

Anybody

Anybody and everybody from Stanford. Even David Shaw. Replace Hoke with him

Stanford

Stanford might own Oregon now, but dont forget the Ducks waxed the last 2 Andrew Luck teams. This is how a real rivalry works. Back and forth..............

Michigan

Michigan has gone six straight road quarters in Rivalry Games with a touchdown

Michigan has been held without a TD in 10 of its last 12 road quarters in Rivalry Games, 12 of 16 overall under Hoke/Borges. If you want to include last year's Nebraska game--as like this year's MSU game, it's the decisive swing in UM's division chase--the number is 0 touchdowns in 16 of the 20 most important road quarters Hoke/Borges have coached at Michigan 8 straight quarters on any field without a TD vs MSU. Only 2 TDs scored in 3 years against those guys This is more than just a trend at this point. It's become the expectation.

Hey

Hey 14 for 4 sounds like the best lap dance deal ever!!

The

The 3 years before Hoke's arrival, Michigan had the 10th best league record out of 11 teams. I'm not sure you can say he inherited that much better of a situation vis a vis his competition than Harbaugh did. Both had to climb their programs out of the bottom

Wrong

It's not built just on hope and faith. It's built on the fact the since he got here, Michigan has the best overall record in the B10. Compare that the previous four years combined when they were a bottom 3 team in the conference. And he's dealing with a short handed roster with a team who will be more talented going forward than the teams he has had. You accuse us of resting on hope and faith, while you have "evidence." All you have is panic, the result of one loss

Good grief

Good grief, with the Hoke ceiling talk. Sometimes I wonder about our fanbase

It

It's not even close to being one of the top 10 worst losses in program history. Bacon needs a history lesson. Or he needs to stop admiring RR's calves. Probably both
