A block from Pit Room is…

A block from Pit Room is Candente, (sister restaurant), that serves great Tex Mex, and gets some of their meat from Pit Room.  The queso with brisket is the best I've had in Houston.  Margaritas also go down easy.  Highly recommend the rib-eye fajitas, but it's pricey.

I plan on taking two visiting Wolverines there on Sunday night.

For weather (I know we all have an app on our phone), but if you want more insight, Space City Weather is the best for hype free information (perusing their archives when Hurricane Harvey hit is a long but fascinating read - https://spacecityweather.com/2017/08/page/12/):

They don't always update over the weekend, but with the big game on Monday, there is a decent chance that they might.

My wife eats GF, she loves this place, it's well rated (also in our 'hood).  It's only about 4 miles from NRG, it's inside the 610 loop.

It's not exactly your traditional steakhouse, but it is excellent.  Make reservations on Resy

Tickets Acquired: Managed to find my tix online close to the bottom pricing on Sunday.  Saving my vocal cords for the game.

'99 alum.  Looking for 3 tickets, will make the pricing attractive to the seller if we can cut out the middleman (i.e. stubhub).

I live in Houston, close enough to walk to NRG, can offer Woodson Whiskey pre-game.

Only thing that matters at the moment is winning tomorrow, and hopefully registering a Rutger.

4 of us coming to help make this Ryan Field East.  Bought tix 3 weeks ago, section 123, 5-10 yard line, $60 each (before StubHub raped me).  It’s on the home team side, but the stadium should be heavy maize and blue. Eagerly looking forward to a Rutger, or perhaps many,

While he is a Michigan guy...

I do see how Snyder might want to avoid the conflict he's thoroughly a UM guy, but it seems like he would only aggravate < 50% of the sparty fan base at this point, so it's somewhat low risk.

One against many I emailed all of the trustees in January at the height of the coverage in the Nassar trial, calling them out and urging them to resign (I used a level of discourse appropriate for David Brandon). I did get a response from Mosallam (he admitted that they deserved to be called out like that), and we subsequently traded a few emails.

My assessment: he seems to genuinely care and his public comments and actions are positive in light of the situation. That being said, I think he’s in way over his head. Sadly, he’s probably the best one of the group, by a mile.

I really want to know what Snyder is doing to remove the trustees (presumably nothing). As this tire fire continues to burn out of control, his dereliction of duty is growing faster than the list of victims.

About that flooding

I'm not sure Houston's flooding has so much to do with paving the area with concrete as it is with a really flat area that tends to get periodic large dumps of rainfall.  New York and LA are more paved over than Houston, although, Houston is still working on it!  The streets actually do flood a lot, by design, as a temporary retention pond (makes driving a challenge).  No doubt, Buffalo Bayou (which drains the two main reservoirs) winding though the city and going through downtown is not the ideal setup, and that definitely has to be addressed.

Frankly, I'm amazed at how well the city is actually able to drain water, but 4' in 3 days is too much to ask of any area.

Pulled the trigger

After waiting / hoping for prices to fall in the lower bowl, I jumped on Section 109, row MM.  Was listed as $250, which meant $307 after fees.  Doesn't feel like I got a good deal, but I'm too giddy about the game to care.  Rest your vocal cords ladies and gentlemen, we need every decibel for the stadium.
