Its not as if being able to claim any of those things makes any of you more connected to any of the teams than anyone else. That is laughable.

I went to the UP a couple times.

I'm from Chicago.

Michigan football and Major

Michigan football and Major League Baseball. That is all that matters.

Sprinkle in some NFL here and there....but mostly UM Football and MLB

But it is mostly

But it is mostly football.

Anything that isn't football is just a way to kill time until football is back.

That includes classes.

I mean....I guess I just dont

I mean....I guess I just dont give a shit what anyone has given to the block M.

I follow Michigan football purely for entertainment purposes. I have nothing to give back and I have no reason to give anything back anyway. Michigan has never given me anything.

I didnt even go to Michigan. I have never stepped foot on the campus....actually, I've never even been in lower Michigan.

"They're the ones dedicating 4-5 years of their life to Michigan. They're the ones who are working hard and busting their ass, most of them doing it for the last time in their lives with their respective sports that they have given their entire young lives to, while their friends are out doing what regular college student stuff."

Oh....damn....I didn't really you were gonna make this all dramatic...

"I downvoted because I appreciate the sacrifice all of these athletes make and what they give to Michigan. If you don't, then that's your problem. "

Yeah, this got weird.

It is hardly a "sacrifice" to accept a full ride to a D1 school to play sports and go to class.

Fucking relax dude.

Anyone who downvoted this

Anyone who downvoted this probably has a relative who played badmitton at UM.

How come people make a point

How come people make a point to call them girls?

I know you hear "boys" or "guys", and sometimes "men" used when discussing male sports, but the use of "girls" far exceeds the normal usage of similar pronouns in opposite situations.

I just find it funny

I didnt realize people

I mean, I see some posts about basketball...amd some for hockey. I never actually read any of them. I figured they were just filling space.

Michigan makes profits off of their atheltics programs, one of the few school that does. And the money they receive is nearly all football related.

Well no. Of course they dont

Well no. Of course they dont care. They are doing it for cheap labor.

I'm just saying  that there is a lot worse things that can be done, and the end game is that children in those countries get jobs that are somewhat safe and pay them decent compared to whatever they would mae otherwise.

It is still substandard working conditions compared to America, but for those places it is better than an alternative.

I dont think that is

I dont think that is something Nike can control.

The truth sucks, but some children end up working in dangerous/criminal conditions in order to help support their family.

If Nike is providing them with a steady paycheck and reletively safe working conditions, then I think we should all tip our hats to Nike for doing so.

So children arent allowed to

So children arent allowed to have jobs?

I dont want to go political here, but....

(yes, I said but...so that means I am going to do it anyway)

If it werent for Nike employing those children to make clothes, they would be working for much less money and in much more dangerous conditions.

It sounds meatheadish to say

It sounds meatheadish to say this, but if I could still play competitive football (and get paid to do it), I would do it in a heartbeat.

Especially in an arena league. I have a friend who played arena ball and loved it.

It is very different, but it is cool. Anything to be on the field.

They are high quality if you

They are high quality if you are wearing them strictly for casual purposes.

Do not sweat in a New Era hat. It will shrink the hat.

And the inside backing on the front will whittle away as it gets worn out and begin poking you in the head once the hat loses its shape.

But if you keep the hat in perfect condition and do not use it while doing anything athletic, then yes, New Era is a great hat.

Yeah, I should be able to buy

Yeah, I should be able to buy a quality hat with a $20

Instead, New Era tries to creep their prices up near $40.

Aka the old white man hat

I dont need someone to break my hat in for me. I can make it look all broken, washed-up and dirty on my own.

I have never dunked a

I have never dunked a basketball in my life, but am I the only person who just doesn't find dunks to be that impressive?

Like, it is basically something that should be expected based on a persons physical ability. If you are 6'5" with a 45 inch vert, I expect you to dunk. So no dunk you "throwdown" will ever come across as all that impressive, or exciting....it is just a dunk. You are 6'5'' and jump high. This should be normal.

I would compare it to throwing a baseball 90-95 mph. Yeah, it is great, but once you do it the first time, it is sort of expected from you. You dont see people at a ballgame getting all excited and jumping up and down over a 1st pitch fastball at 95.

Sure, if someone is throwing 103 mph, it is pretty cool...just like someone dunking from the free throw line is pretty cool. And dunk contests can be pretty cool (if there are...you know....athletes involved).

The video in the post above with the kid making a 3 pointer and then dunking the ball doesnt impress me at all....I would never be able to do it, but for any decent basketball player who dunks, it looks routine.

I always thought his shoulder

I always thought his shoulder pads looked ridiculously oversized when he was an underclassman.

Almost as if Hoke wanted him to have more size for blocking, so they gave him the biggest shoulder pads they could find.

I hate Carolina, but even I can admit Cam Newton is a monster.

Nothing against Countess

Nothing against Countess because he can say whatever he wants, since he graduated from the school, but I think it is kinda silly to add in the #GoBlueForever line at the end considering he is obviously not "Going Blue" this season.

Still an alum and all that, so he can absolutely show pride in Michigan and all that, but like....dude....you are going to be playing for a different team next year. Obviously you are not rooting for Michigan at that point.

This is an issue I have with recruiting moreso. I dont have twitter or follow any of that very closely, but occasionally I come accross the material on this site and you see kids who will tweet things like #GoBlue #AnnArbor one day, and then #OSU #Buckeyes4Life the next day.

I get it, you are excited about being recruited by D1 teams, and if I were in the same position I would sure as hell milk the attention as long as I could, but come on. It is as if these kids dont understand some of the rivalries they are in-between. haha

I still think it is

I still think it is incredibly lazy and ridiculous that major uniform manufacturers use templates for almost every school they produce uniforms for.

A certain fabric pattern, or design structure being used by multiple teams is ok. I can understand why Nike, Under Armour or adidas would want to use the same methods of production for all of the teams they equip, but when they use the same themes and designs for each team it becomes pretty pathetic.

There is marketing reasons behind some of it (Ex: adidas would naturally want to use the same font on all of their t-shirts, and use the same 3 stripes pattern, etc..), but when the actual uniforms for basketball are literally the exact same look for each team with nothing but color changes and maybe a custom font for the school name, it gets to the point where it is putting adidas in a negative light in my opinion. It gives me motivation to purchase original apperal instead of the same cookie cutter crap that they produce each season.

I always hated that

I always hated that line.

If you have crappy leadership, then find some new leaders. Being lazy and simply saying "attitude reflects leadership, captain" is the easy way out and doesn't really fix anything.

The whole "official" captains

The whole "official" captains thing is bad for a team, in my opinion.

I've been on the scout team, I've been a captain of the team, and just about everywhere in between.

Being a appointed a "captain" doesn't really change anything. If you are a leader, you are a leader. I've seen players named "captains" and they still had the same crappy attitude and they led awful teams. I've seen guys who were never named "captain" but they were the unquestioned leader of their team and they led successful teams. And I've seen good teams with no "official" captains who just had a group of players who knew what they were doing and did the right things without any titles being handed down to them.

If at all possible, I would just let you team have its own personality and avoid forcing players into roles they do not need to be forced into.

If it is football and you need guys for the coin toss, just send out random guys who did well in practice that week. Or send out the waterboys.
