Pressler is extremely loyal to Bryant, I don't think he'd come to Michigan. They were the only school to accept him during the scandal in 2006, I think he plans on staying there indefinitely.
If I recall correctly, Tierney leaving Princeton was a big surprise and his motivation was mostly to be closer to his family. He had reasons beyond simply being courted by Denver.
Yea, I see your point. From what I understand, many of the relatively new programs depended on transfers to be immediately competitive. The Michigan coaches decided that the culture that they wanted to build was more important in the long run than having a good team now. From the experiences of the club team, I think they're right. Culture was the one thing holding that team back. The coaching staff has their shortcomings, but I do agree with the approach they've taken in putting together a team that should continue to improve. I don't know if that really explains why we've underperformed relative to other programs, makes some sense to me though. Younger inexperienced players who buy in from day one or better players that being their school's culture with them.

On the other hand, we were at a significant disadvantage recruiting the first couple of classes as many players commit early in high school. For the first few years of D-I, I think the team was actually less talented than some of the club teams. Five years in lacrosse isn't enough to get all the talent you need.

When they announced their move to D-I, the Athletic Department had no interest in going forward with these plans. As far as I know, they will be building up their facilities near the tennis center.
Had my tickets on stubhub, they did indeed reach a deadline today and are no longer listed. I still have two tickets, section 121, row 25, where you can sit with myself and 3 other Michigan fans. Just got too excited when tickets came on sale and didn't need all of them. Let me know if you're interested.
Most likely has to do with the brutal schedule they decided to start playing in '08. Not that Michigan ever had an easy schedule, but that's the year things really changed for the lacrosse team. They scheduled Arizona, ASU, BYU, Duluth, Colorado and Colorado State away. The most competitive home game (of the 4 of them) was a 20-5 win against Lindenwood. The next year, most of those teams came to Ann Arbor. This year, they repeated the same trips out to Arizona, Utah, Minnesota (not actually in MN this time), and Colorado. As someone mentioned the Oregon game should've been home but you can't pass up the opportunity they had.
It's really just about alternating home and away as is convenient for everyone's schedule. Next year, I assume Michigan will head out to Cali for their spring break again and host a lot of the teams that they played away this year.
When it comes to riding, there's really no need to practice the simpler stuff, like the safe ride. As long as you go over it once in a while everyone should be fine.
Additionally, it's not just the ten man ride that makes Michigan so good at riding. Yes it's a little more complicated, but it's the fact that they ride harder than anyone else that makes them so good. If you watch the attackmen in particular, you'll notice that they sprint back and forth across the field until the opponent crosses midfield. A lot of teams don't pursue opponents with their attackmen in such a manner as it takes incredible discipline and conditioning. In fact, the attackmen for Michigan probably work the hardest on the ride, something that cannot be said for most teams.

Western must not work very hard on the fundamentals. I wouldn't expect either of these games to be within 12 this weekend.
Fair enough, just my reaction from getting years of hate from baseball players.
I wouldn't bet against lacrosse becoming a major spring sport. College baseball has to compete for the best players with minor and major league baseball and lacrosse will not have to deal with that. There is barely even major league lacrosse, let alone minors.
Regardless, my comment is more directed at joeburner, who is simply a hater and clearly not supportive of Michigan athletics in general. It's tough to consider someone a Michigan fan who goes out of his way to disrespect those sports that don't garner all that much attention.

Sorry to tell you but you're part of a community here that has overwhelmingly voted to continue coverage of a lacrosse team that likely has a big future at this university. I wouldn't be surprised if lacrosse becomes THE spring sport at Michigan (if it isn't already, since it gets more fans than all sports other than football, basketball and hockey). So, expect to see more of this for a long time to come.
