Listen, if Big John was forced out that is total bullshit. One of the best, most respected people (not just "equipment managers") in the business. Get him back and let him go out on his terms. He deserves that much.
I am sure ND would survive but I think it would definately be a blow to their ratings if Big Ten schools stopped scheduling them. I have believed this for a while now though.
I happen to agree with JoePa when he said, "If I had my choice, someone that can give us the biggest TV exposure in the East, Syracuse, Pitt, Rutgers. Not in that order. There's some pressure, I would suppose, to maybe go back to Notre Dame and ask again, which I would not be happy with," Paterno said. "I think they've had their chance."
ND has, indeed, had their chance now it is time for them to go to a second rate conference and deal with. Also, I don't believe the ACC will allow them to keep their football independence.
There are some people out there saying the coaches should turn Denard into a running back and start Devin Gardner. Here's a couple more reasons why that shouldn't happen.
What do you think you need to do better in passing game? Denard: “Come back on Sunday and come to work. Do everything coach tells me to do.”
Just have to say, this is why I love Denard and it is why the coaches love him also. When he say this you know he means it and is not saying it for the cameras. He also inspires the team as this quote shows:
Did you have to think twice about blocking for Denard when your helmet came off? Koger: “You really don’t think about it. I did notice my helmet came off, but the main thing is protecting Denard. I want to think about him before I think about myself, and if I get hurt then on to the next man. Brandon Moore would do a great job being a tight end.”
The passing will come and nobody can deny he is the most electric player in college football.
If Michigan and Ohio were in the same division then only one can go to the championship game. The championship game is specifically for the two best teams in the conference. Which traditionally has been Michigan and Ohio. With this solution they still play at least The Game and possibly play for the championship and maybe someday for the right to play for the National Championship.
I was born and raised in Michigan but since I graduated from Ferris State I have moved quite a bit. Texas, South Carolina, Georgia, and I also travel from projects a lot to subcontractors all over the country. Of course I always wear my Michigan hat and no matter where I go there is the inevitable, "So when y'all gonna play App State again. Not Sceered are ya?" (Obviously this is a quote from Texas).
First: App State is now looking into moving up to DI and this would help their exposure if they are not already DI by the time this game is played.
Second: App State is a good football team that executes very well and it is better to play them than some other creampuff team.
Third: People are going to talk no matter what we (Michigan) do. If we never schedule App State again their will still be those people saying that we are afraid to get beat again.
I am actually glad that Dave Brandon is making this happen. App State gets money and exposure and we get a (higher) quality opponent then we probably normally would get.
Bottom line we did lose and if we can't handle the heckling then there is a problem.
