And by Rogie Vachon...I mean the Rogie Vachon that was signed by Detroit Red Wings in "Free Agency"...if you could call it free back then. The LA Kings demanded young superstar Dale McCourt as compensation from the Wings. The case went all the way to the Supreme Court.
Ultimately the Wings got to keep McCourt -- but then traded him and Mike Foligno to the Buffalo Sabres (in one of the worst trades in history).
Vachon ultimately had some eye problems and washed out with the Wings. Prior to that he was an unbelievable goalie -- to me this was the first in a long line of poor goalie signings by the Wings -- which was not ended until Mike Vernon came to town.
Not surprising Red didn't score. Vachon really was pretty damn good. Kind of Hasek-like in his unorthodox but athletic style.
