With the caveat that I support our players and hope for their success...
This was given exactly the amount of effort it deserves. Michigan Football won the CFP National Championship earlier this week - many people don't know this!
That 2017 UM-MSU game, it was perfect, absolutely euphoric. We were miserable, the rain coming down in sheets, Michigan fumbling the ball seemingly every other play, but still being in the game, that song was such a release and incredible in the moment. Still get chills thinking about the crowd screaming the end of the chorus as the song cut out as the commercial break ended.
I never thought that it would stick, and didn't think it should. It was something that worked in that specific moment when the stars aligned, and that was it. After a while, it just felt forced and half-assed - a lot of times the song would start late, or not cut out at the right time, etc. It also just didn't have the same power hearing the DJ screw it up as Michigan was beating Hawaii by a billion as it did when we needed something, anything, to grab onto in that MSU game.
I don't know whether it's Michigan's recent success, or the song becoming more closely linked with Michigan beyond Ann Arbor, but I'm sold on it now. It's fun, it gets the crowd into it, and if we're going to have piped-in music, I'd rather it be this.
My wife's family is from Houston. When I started visiting there 15 years or so ago, I didn't really care for it. Now I love it, and would consider living there if not for the horrible weather in the late spring-mid fall. As an outsider, it's felt like it has changed a lot over that time - more vibrant, younger, much bigger. I'd definitely give the city the nod over Dallas, which to me feels like surburbia writ large.
The venue, however, is better in Dallas (not that NRG is bad, but AT&T is just newer/shinier).
A lot you are saying Feldman deserves criticism for this dreck, but I'm going to disagree. Providing a free therapy session to a bunch of unbelievable losers is to be commended when health care is as expensive as it is. Not sure if I agree with the decision to publish his findings, though.
High school, no. Jostens tried to sell them to us around yearbook time of our senior year but everyone pretty much laughed at them. The class ring at my college is a pretty big tradition though so just about everybody got them (and yes they have separate rings for undergrad and grad - in grad school I believe each major/degree program has their own slightly modified ring modeled around a base design)

Definitely is! Which is what makes it so infuriating when it cuts out at the wrong time or doesn't cut out at all...
