Women's Hoops a 3 Seed in the In-season Bracket Reveal

#11 on the S curve, would host games for the second straight year.  Other seeded teams with Michigan in the Seattle regional would be 1. UConn 2. LSU and 4. Virginia Tech.  Big Ten has five teams in the top 16:

1. Indiana (#2 overall)

2. Iowa (#7)

3. Maryland (#9)

4. Michigan (#11)

5. OSU (#16)

Obviously lots could change in the next month or so, but still remarkable the job KBA has done here.

That's good to hear.  Last I heard we were a 5 seed and we definitely want to be a 4 or better to host the opening round and second round games.  It is uphill battle for a visiting team to make it to the sweet 16.

KBA and the players on the recent teams have done a great job.  Looking forward to their continued good play - and, hopefully, some “dancing at home”.

I fear this team has a performance ceiling.  We lack a true superstar — no Naz. Most of the top 10 this year seem to have one. We have beaten lesser trams but not those above us. Getting to Final Four, or even the Elite Eight, feels like it would be a real upset.

Btw, UConn hadnt lost back to back games in 20 years? That over 20 years they had been 75-0 after a loss is remarkable for two reasons — that they had 0 losses after losses in 20 years, and that they only had 75 losses in 20 years. IIRC Brian Ellerbie averaged abt 75 losses a year.

we're a really interesting team...no true superstar, but i think ohio state is the only team that can go three deep at the very top like we do.

  • indiana has grace berger and mackenzie holmes, then a big dropff.
  • iowa has caitlin clark and monika czinano, then spare parts.
  • maryland does have three at the top, but it's really more like diamond miller and a drop to abby meyers and shyanne sellers, then a cliff.

ohio state is closest at the top, with taylor mikesell, jacy sheldon, and taylor thierry, followed closely by rebeka mikulasikova and cotie mcmahon depending on the night. they're really good when they're clicking.

there are nights (okay, ALL of them) when we miss naz, obviously.  but there were times when the offensive approach was to swing it around until you could get it down low and that was pertty much it.  this year's offense seems to have a lot more flow and different ways to hurt you, and leigha and laila can both freelance to get a bucket on their own when you need it.

we've won some big nonconference games, too - north carolina essentially on the road, at miami, south florida and baylor at a neutral site (florida).

we're going to be a tough out.

Yes, I am unimpressed by our McDonald's AA transfer (Kampschroeder), right now I'd rather have Hobbs on the floor. Nolan and Williams need to be more consistent performers for this Brown-as-Point Forward scheme to work against top teams. Phelia has the most superstar potential, hope she gets well soon....
