Women's Golf advances to NCAA finals for only 2nd time in history

Submitted by Michigasling on

The 50th-ranked team in NCAA women's golf, they were the 13th-ranked team in the Alabama regional, moved their way up to #7 after the first two rounds, and moved up that one extra spot in the final round to make the 6-team cut to move on.

This course must be a demon.

The regional champion Northwestern was +23.

The last place team was +141!!!

Compare those to numbers from the B1G Championship which were -12 as the leader and +46 was the worst.

Michigan was the 11 seed in this regional and was one of the last at-large bids. To beat teams like #16 Cal and #17 Iowa State is one thing, but to do that AND advance to the NCAA Championships is outstanding.

This team is really having a great turnaround season. Went 40-75-7 last season and now are gonna be playing for a national championship.

for 10 years, in 5 different cities, there are some challenging courses there. Not sure which course they played on but all of the Robert Trent Jones courses are beautiful and challenging. Granted I suck at golf but love to play.

Shoal Creek has hosted major PGA events.  Depending on how they set the course up and, of course, the weather they can make the course very difficult.  Tremendous accomplishment for the ladies.
