When will U-M bball get a genuine trophy case?
I've been seeing us year after year hang banners and get awards and trophies for at least 6 or 7 years now. I'm starting to think we need a place at William Davidson Player Devolopment Center to put all that hardware together to be admired, similar to what Schembechler Hall's Towsley's Museum used to be. By my count we have:
1 Wooden Award
1 Naismith Trophy
1 AP Player of the Year Trophy
2 Big Ten Player of the Year Awards (in recent memory)
6 Big Ten Regular Season Trophies (since they started handing out the bigger ones in the 70's)
2 Big Ten Tournament Trophies (not including the one we gave back for forfeiting the title)
2 Regional Championship Trophies
1 National Championship Trophy
Now take a look at these different trophy cases for other schools and see my point of why we need one to be like the other elite programs in college basketball
Villanova:
Kansas:
North Carolina (just for ACC titles alone):
Aren't most of the trophies in those free-standing cases in the Crisler concourse past the MDen?
one case has basketball trophies but it's MHSAA mr basketball and ms basketball. Most of the other cases have various sports displays of greats through the years. The '18 B1G tournament trophy and '18 NCAA Regional trophy were on temporary display behind the NE Mden for the championship viewing party against Nova. Will probably be trotted out next year for photo ops at "selfie night".
Probably when the football team beats MSU and OSU. Can't have trophy cases until then.
Might be short a few trophies if someone bumps a table.
Also, I think they should covert that room to a wine cellar.
Ha, I thought the same thing, although I think you're talking about Kansas. It looks like a yard sale at grandmom's house.
North Carolina would have had a tobacco company sponsored smoking lounge.
Makes more sense now. Maybe it IS grandma's house.
Plus these tables have a schematic advantage over other buffet tables. They have only been used after Charlie Weis' victories so are in "as new" condition.
"If we weren't paying that JERK of a coach John Beilein so much money, we could afford a proper trophy case."

"we're not an elite program until we land four 5-stars a year and win seven national championships"
--a certain ex-poster, probably
We could pay Derrick Walton Jr to come back and hold our trophies at Crisler
There are trophies on display in the southeast corner of the PDC/Crisler; it's not a portion of the building that's open to the public on game days. The trophies are just to the left of this picture:
