What if...

I am just wondering what you guys think Michigan might have looked like in both 2007 and 2008 if Rich Rod had come in 2007 instead of 2008. My thoughts are that with Barwis, we wouldn't have lost to ASU and we could have kept it close to Oregon if not beating them, based on conditioning and not having a huge morale hit the previous week.

RR still wouldn't have had the kids that he needed to play his system, but he would have had some excellent players on both sides of the ball to hold him over while he got freshmen in and trained.

This year we would have been starting redshirt freshmen instead of true freshmen and we would have a near full offense of his players to work with, not to mention a running QB for sure. Maybe Manningham and Arrington stay another year, Jason Forcier doesn't transfer, etc.

Even think about Lloyd Carr retiring in 2006. Would that have put us over the edge to beat OSU and play Florida in the NC game and beat them?

I know it is kind of out there, but someone on the board posted something that made me think about this and I wanted to get your opinions on it.

If Carr left after 2006, Henne and Long likely go pro. The results would actually have been worse in 2007. The more fitting question is if the coaching change had occurred after 2005.
