A weighty subject vis-a-vis our recruits.

If my math is correct, as of today, the average weight of our recruits is 201.5 pounds. As someone who has followed U of M football since the 1970s, this is hard for me to fathom. Barwis may have his work cut out for him! I hope he can beef 'em up a bit while keeping them fleet of foot.

Well as long as they're some of the strongest, fastest recruits, weight won't matter much. I'd rather have an athlete than some shlob who outweighs his other counterparts.

Weight won't matter as long as you have new laws of physics. There are big men who are strong and fast and very athletic. RichRod hasn't recruited too many of them so far, although I thought he had a couple of last minute decommits who were big in his fist year. Everything else being equal, the guy who is bigger will win. It is unrealistic to think you can take the average guy who enters college at 220 pounds and believe you can put 20 pounds a year for four years from working out. Might happen occasionally, but don't rely on that outcome. It is a lot easier to start with a guy who is 265 and build from there.
