Video Game Thread: NCAA Football - Denard Edition, anyone else playing while under quarantine?

Submitted by Glasgowing on March 22nd, 2020 at 5:08 PM

While working from home, I have hooked up my Xbox 360 and have been playing NCAA Football since last week. Who else has fired up this game since being quarantined? Wondering if anyone has playbook suggestions or other tips or tricks you do or did while creating your dynasty? When it comes to playbooks, I usually switch depending on what school I start with or to one I’m not used to as some way to challenge me. There has to number few people out there who have fired up their 360 or PS3 like I have. Thought it’d be a way to share and get through this time a little easier.

I was going to but discovered my NCAA 14 disc has a small crack in it and is unplayable.

I have been playing The Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past

Shotguns Split Twins - Triple Option.   Eventually they don't cover the RB and its a Home run.

Shotgun Spead Flex - Deep Attack (After you run it one time) if you Audible and press L2 to reset your play it will bring up corners and If they are in man coverage and your WR is fast it can be a home run.  If they don't play bump and run, triangle will be open over the middle.

Also if you have no life and are quarantined.

If your coach has Insta - Commit and is maxed in recruiting.  Any recruit you can become the number in the first few weeks of the season has a 20% Chance of committing on the spot.  So once you get things rolling after a couple of Nattie's you can stack your team.

I.E. restart the dynasty every time you offer someone and they don't commit on the spot.  You can get 6 - 10 Blue Chip players every class.  It can be time consuming.  Also the game seems to have a multiplier for several commits in a row this way.  I've had a run up to four.  Once you get one save the game and move on to the next recruit this way.

Also, be open to changing Defensive Position Players,  move FS and SS to Linebacker.  Fast Linebackers to DE.  Fast DE to DT.  I recruit typically 3 - 4 Safeties every class just to keep one or two in the backfield and then to move one or two to linebackers to start my Speedy D.

You will be unstoppable, muaahahahahhahah.

Also when converting a players position (That isn't their natural position) and or athletes they have to start year one.  If you want you can redshirt them after their freshman year.  Otherwise they will transfer.

These same principles can be applied to Madden 25 (The one with Barry on the cover) when you import your team over. But it works the pistol formation instead of shotgun split twins for the Option.  And the Slot wide receiver seems  to get open more down the middle when sending them on a go route to split cover two.

Madden isn't quite as fun as NCAA.  But I like to see my players grow in the pros and to be able to change my teams city after a couple of years.  You can also select what skills you want to upgrade in this version.  Which can be helpful like making WR strength and run blocking skills high.  They'll set the edge on run plays.  Most speed and agility skills transfer pretty accurately.  The drop off is typically in awareness and things like catching, which are easy to upgrade compared to speed.  If you don't increase any stats for the first three years in madden you can resign players really cheap for their second contracts then max them out and they are pretty close to mid to high 90's.

To build off the speedy defense. Use the 1-5-5 line up run cover 2 man under Suh your best tackle and middle linebacker to their respective spots sometimes your Sam will be better at Mike etc. The other linebackers sub in your converted safeties or safeties not converted. Be sure to make sure your 2nd string FS is fast cuz he will cover the slot

Great game. Haven’t played in quite a while but I do remember I had to make some recruiting restrictions for myself as I just constantly hauled in ridiculous classes a few years into the dynasty.

I play one season a year. It’s a dynasty with updated rosters (as close as I can). I play one game a week in the summer usually concluding mid-to-late August. Last year we won the championship over Florida who ironically boasted Heisman winner Felipe Franks. 91-6 overall record and 5 National Championships Is my current record.

With my Spring Break having been extended a week + online classes for the rest of the semester a lot of my time has been spent continuing my dynasty with my little brother. We're in 2027 right now (4th year with Clemson, he's in his 7th year with Missouri) and the games have been really fun, even if I win like 99% of my games.

As for playbooks, I usually love playing with the playbook my OC has, but if I don't like it, I go full-on Air Raid. Texas Tech has Kingsbury's playbook which I enjoy playing as much as I enjoy watching it IRL so I usually go with that.

Nope, I did plow through Doom Eternal in three days after buying it though. Amazing game, highly recommend, just be warned it is not an easy game, it has  insanely fast gameplay and if you stop moving you will die.

Not my favourite game actually. I play various video games but sport sims aren't my cup of tea.

These days I play only Rainbow Six Siege with my friends. I've finally reached Platinum on ranked matches. Also, I decided to change my gaming kit a bit. Take a look at the best fps mouse I found on goodbuytoday.com. I think it helped me a bit to perform better.
