Very OT: New season of Barry and college football

As many of you know, the University of Michigan and occasionally the Wolverine football team figure into background of films and TV shows. The Big Chill, The Five-Year Engagement and Air Force One are a few prominent examples. The past week saw the debut of the third season of Barry on HBO. This is a very dark and satirically funny show.

The characters are all flawed and in a show with psychotic killers, ruthless criminals and heroin dealers set against a background of vapid fake people in Hollywood, the character Monroe Fuches (wonderfully played by Stephen Root) comes closest to being a classic bad guy. His choices are almost always the lowest, pettiest, cruelest, and most selfish.

In the 3rd season opener he is in hiding and laments that what he truly misses is watching college football and reveals he is lifelong Ohio State fan!

So glad to finally have Barry back! Such a great show and it was gone too long (thanks COVID). I read that they had the third and fourth seasons all written and ready to go, and that will be the end.

Ahh thank you for reminding me that a Barry came back this week. My wife and I watched the first two seasons right when COVID started, and we loved it. We just forgot about it between a handful of other shows we’re watching right now. Better Call Saul, WeCrashed, Vikings, Our Flag Means Death, and now Ozarks is back, too, just off the top of my head. And against my better judgment, I started watching Euphoria this week, if for no other reason than to give myself something to watch on the elliptical.
