I say no. They aren't even the best team in Utah. BYU will be this year's Hawaii, and they will get smoked by some 1 or 2 loss BCS conference team in a bowl game, just like Hawaii did. There are too many solid teams this year for a non-BCS school to pull a Boise St. IF one of those schools gets to a BCS game, they will get throttled. And it won't be Utah.

ESPN also made Valdosta, GA "Titletown" and held "Who's Now" and has Steve Phillips talk as though he's a credible GM and baseball analyst. Utah might upset an early season Michigan, but would probably need to go undefeated to get a BCS bid. That's not very likely.

ESPN didn't exactly make Valdosta Titletown.  It was all done by voting, and Valdosta came together and everyone probably voted.  I think that's a dumb way to do it, since almost no one in the country has ever heard of Valdosta, GA, and that fact that they have a really good high school football team isn't THAT big of a deal.  It was a really cool segment that was uber-anticlimactic.

Speaking of moronic ESPN pieces, Who ended up being "Now"? True story - I thought Valdosta was in California until about five minutes ago. As for "can Utah be in the BCS", the answer is "yes". They have 3 competitive games on their schedule - Michigan, Oregon State, and BYU. Oregon St. and BYU are at home. The bar for non-BCS schools to make it seems to be "go undefeated" - when you are pretty good, which Utah is, and only play 3 games that you have a reasonable chance of losing, I'd say you have a decent shot.
