Unless the band was treated really poorly by OSU fans, which is entirely possible, and everyone knew how to play he song somehow, I'd doubt this was true.

USC band played "The Victors" after win vs. OSU?
My kid learned it the first year of playing an instrument. Also "On Wisconsin."
Damn, wish I was better at trumpet when I was 8 or whatever. Maybe I would have learned it. Instead I was always last chair.
Or like, the coolest kid in the band.
would that have been excellent!
If this is true, then I'm a little bit less Carrol-averse than I used to be.
Er, why? Carroll has about as much to do with USC's band as Rodriguez has with Michigan's. Appreciate USC's band director if it's true. :-)
Just heard confirmation from a caller, FYI. Did anyone DVR the post game?
while TP was waiting to congratulate Matt Barkley at midfield.
It's the USC Band. I would not be surprised in the least.
Have you ever heard the USC band? They only know that one song. And they play it over and over and over and over and over and over again.
I want this rumor to be true. therefore, it happened.
Incorrect. They know two songs. The fight song, and that other song where everyone holds up the 'V' and they play it over and over and over and over again.
..they now know two songs!!! WOW! What a slap in the face!
Three songs...didn't they play back-up for Fleetwood Mac on "Tusks" ???
Not to be contrary, but the reason they play that song over and over again is because they score a lot of touchdowns. Here's hoping people accuse the M band of a limited repertoire after this season.
I'm sure we have some current or former U of M band members that can confirm this, but I've heard that both MSU and OSU fans are just absolutely terrible towards our band members in their stadiums. If they gave it to the USC band half as bad as they give it to us, they deserve this bit of salt in their wounds.
OSU 87
(it was worth it)
Who carries batteries around?
OSU fans. They use them to plug their anuses in case there are no bathrooms (or coolers) nearby.
This got my morning off to a great start. It also reminds me I need to forward that article to my OSU friend. Thank you.
I've heard this about OSU fans, but I don't think it's true of MSU fans.
MMB should return the favor if we win in November
We will need to learn it for when we play USC in the title game, so might as well.
Wait, do you mean to tell me that the USC band played something OTHER than Fight On and Tribute to Troy? Get out.
The USC band is a bunch of classless douchebags and this would just be another instance of them being what they are. John Williams (wrote the music for Star Wars and a bunch of other awesome stuff) once did a special arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner for the pregame of a Rose Bowl and during rehersal for it he corrected some members of the USC band for playing part of it incorrectly and they responded by booing and hissing him.
Yeah, that happened. I think the USC band is even worse to be around than the OSU band. However, playing the Victors is hysterical and gets a huge thumbs up from me.
OSU's band isn't even that bad. I know a few of them, and they were very nice. When it comes to bands, here's the sh*t list:
1. USC
2. Wisconsin
3. Stanford
I do know that they did play "All Right Now" at the end of the game, meaning that even if they didn't play the Victors, they did play another school's "Fight Song" as it were.
... that it has gotten to the point where USC has to play the victors at an end of an OSU game, since we haven't been performing well as of late in the series.
Tide's a turning, though. Tide's a turning.
What does our performance have to do with USC taunting our biggest rival? I'm all for it =)
I didn't hear it and I was pretty close to the band after the game. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, but I can tell you firsthand I did not hear it after people started filing out.
the song ever happened..if it did espn will be making a huge fuss over it child plz
don't listen to karash and anderson on 97.1the ticket there's a joke
Karash= biggest homer in radio history can't omit when he's wrong he's said the lions should win 7 games also
he need to get out of detroit period
anderson= a fat kiss ass to karash does whatever kar says
-1 for spelling Karsch's name wrong...
and if I could, another -1 for horrible sentence structure.
go listen to the idiots then all of them = homers!!!!!!!!!!!!
everyone murders.
In addition to spelling Karsch's name wrong, he write "omit" when it should clearly be "admit." Not to mention other obvious grammatical errors. Not one to normally nit-pick grammar, but he seemed like a douche.
My head hurts just reading your rant. You should stop wasting your time on these boards and pay attention during class.
People called in saying this, not the radio show hosts.
to be drinking.
Seriously, I don't know. Do you mean 'homer' as in Homer Simpson?
Someone who is extremely biased toward their home team. Think Lou Holtz.
I'm not up on all the sports jargon but now I can add one more word to my slowly growing list of football-related vocabulary words!
EDIT - And now I have learned my lesson...never ask a question on an MGoBlog forum topic or I will be punished with downvotes.
-1 for the post, but +1 for using child please.
If true, that's hilarious. +1 to USC.
Google loves mgoblog. The speed with which stuff here gets indexed is insane.
1) USC fight song
2) Conquest
3) Tusk (Fleetwood Mac)
plus they know how to scrub bathrooms with their helmets......
Isn't there some sort of a healthy rivalry between the MMB and the OSU band? That's what some articles/books/news pieces on the rivalry make it seem like, that they hate but respect each other.
i heard this on rivals radio too
If this happened--and that's a big if--it would be HILARIOUS
He mentioned this morning that he called USC's band director to ask.
Band director indicated they don't know the song, and didn't play it. "Would be classless" etc, etc.
