Great crowd in Vegas tonight.
How did Arriola not score there!?
0-0 at the half. Mexico dominated possession in the first half but Arriola had the best scoring chance of the half and hit the pipe.

Another great chance 10 seconds into the half and just can't connect. Really need to take advantage of these before it's too late which feels like will be sooner rather than later

Feels like non-stop Mexican pressure

This is Mexico’s A/B team and our B/C team. They are gonna look overmatched, and have been for most of the game, but if US can pull this out, it would be a huge upset.

Yeah overall the tournament has been a massive success with getting looks at young guys ahead of WCQ. This would be gravy but always a huge game against Mexico

Another disappointing miss from a 1on1 with Zardes cmon man

Though US has been short on possession they’ve had ample opportunities to score.

Arriola has been the best player on the field, and the worst.
His runs have opened up the field multiple times, giving US their best opportunities… but his god awful misses will be the lasting memory if the final goes the wrong way.

Unbelievable that we haven't scored with the quality of these chances feel like the window of opportunity has closed

Thank you to the idiot that just ran onto the field and stopped a Mexican possession.

Fan on the field… drink

Time for 30 minutes of overtime. 0-0.

US has been a countering team all game, wish they would stop trying to build the attack from the back. Gets sloppy every time they try.

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOO

GOALLLLLL!

Nice one. Mexico sure paid for some sloppy defending and that card.

GOLD CUP CHAMPIONS! Impressive result with this squad.

I don't follow US soccer all that heavily but this has to be considered a pretty impressive upset. This Mexico team was pretty much full-strength and was a WCQ-level squad, so for the US to beat them with the B team is a great accomplishment.

USA! USA! USA!

Well, Gregg good job. I will happily eat that crow that I’ve been giving him.

Alright… calm down Alexi, it’s the gold cup.

I think his statements about it being one of the best accomplishments in USMNT history are way over the top but I appreciated the emotion. One of the first times I haven’t doubted how genuine he was being

Ask yourself how you’ll feel when we finally beat OSU again.
I try not to divulge in fantasies.
Indulge :)
For all intensive purposes, I think divulging is okay right now.
The USMNT beat Mexico in June. Both sides had better players on their squads, who didn't play yesterday. A very nice win for the US reserves to be sure but this wasn't like the miracle on ice.

Acosta went full Beast Mode tonight.

Man of the match.

Say what you want that was gritty. Also, Gregg has a really good feel for the game, it isn’t always pretty but I’ll take trophies all day. It’s actually fun to watch again.

Robinson played solid defense tonight. I’m really happy to see him tally the winner.
Player of the tournament for sure. Steady presence in the back.
That was a pretty awesome game. GO USA!!
Oops.
I was one to say that Greg playing the B team was the smart move even if it meant no glory in this tourney. But man, they really played a real gritty ugly but ultimately successful game. Hats off to the entire team, and getting more trophies while letting the A team get ready for the most important task of qualifying for world cup. Gregg is doing a great job and hope the success continues!!! Too bad about the women's team in the olymipics. Tough VAR call.
Even if he's not a great tactician, Berhalter seems to be a great people manager and the guys play really hard for him. That alone is a huge improvement over Klinsmann and Arena part two. The team last night reminded me of the USMNT from the 90s when they were constantly overmatched but willing to run until they collapse on the field to get a win. So much more fun to watch then Timmy Chandler and Fabian Johnson out there jogging around.
