Update on Thomas Gordon

Submitted by Jay on
According to Rivals, Thomas Gordon is apparently torn between UM & MSU. He also said he'd like to go wherever Will Campbell decides to go to. I highly doubt that Campbell goes to MSU at this point, so, things could look good for UM getting Campbell back in the fold. Considering what Tom Markowski said last week about MSU now being in the mix for Campbell, I'm not counting MSU out just yet, though. Dantonio and his staff have certainly made a very good impression on the high school coaches in state.

Wasn't he supposed to decide soon? I thought it was next week infact. I'm guessing he's pushing it back now. Damn, I thought he was in the bag once we offered him.

Who knows why I care about getting Gordon so much seeing as how he's considered "meh" (to borrow one of Brian's phrases) by both recruiting services. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Rivals didn't even have a profile for him until the day Michigan offered. There's just something to signing the scrappy local kid and giving him a chance to prove himself. Also, I'd love for Cass Tech to become our Cleveland Glenville (which it slowly is).

I'm going off my memory, so this may be completely wrong (corrections are welcome), but....

Didn't both UM and MSU coaches go to a Cass Tech game, see him in action, and offer him based on that?

If that's the case, isn't it kind of like the camp offers, where we should give the coaches some leeway since they have a much better impression of him than the recruiting sites?

About once I week, I'd look up his name and absolutely nothing would come up. Maybe their search function wasn't linking to his name for whatever reason. The first time I saw his profile on thewolverine.com was the day they offered him.

I must have just been doing something retarded. And I know it's pathetic I was searching for Thomas Gordon updates on a weekly basis.

I think the reason he is rated so low and why Michigan and MSU waited a while to offer Gordon, is because this is the first season he has played safety, which is the position he most likely will play in college.  So once both schools saw him play, they liked what they saw and offered almost simultaneously.
