UPDATE: Little Michigan Fighting Cancer

Submitted by ReverendBlueJeans on February 9th, 2023 at 1:15 AM

Friends,

I just wanted to post an update on my son, Finneas, who has been battling cancer for the past three months. Thank you to those who commented, reached out, and hit up the GoFundMe when I first posted this back in November. God bless you all for your care and concern. You were a great source of strength when I greatly needed it.

This past Friday was the midway point of his chemo treatments and he received a MRI to assess how his tumors were responding to the treatment. The pictures below tell the story. The lower right picture was taken back in early November. The lower left, last Friday. The doctors were excited and, honestly, a little shocked at how good the scan looked. We're so beyond grateful.

While the scan was exactly what we were hoping and praying for, that doesn't mean the past three months have been easy. In fact, there were a couple nights we were preparing to say good-bye to our son. And, if the doctors are correct, the next three months (second cycle of "heavy-dose" chemo) will be even more difficult.

So, if praying is your thing, we could use them and it would mean a lot to us. This kid is so incredibly amazing and I'm in awe of his ability to fight every day. I would've given up a long time ago. He truly is a Michigan Man and would make you all so proud. Go blue!

Wow, that is wonderful news to get.  I could not imagine what you're going through but apparently you do have quite the natural born fighter on your hands.

Best wishes to you and your family.

I have been following every update you and your wife post. I wish nothing but the best for you and your son and beyond thankful for the work the doctors and nurses do!

It seems young Finneas has played a strong first half....time for some solid halftime adjustments in preparation of grinding his opponent into oblivion...a strategy that has been working very well for the Michigan Men recently...God bless Finneas, his family and also those treating him.  I look forward to a post in the future claiming a dominating victory.

That is great news! Keep fighting Finneas... and hang in there dad and mom. I can't imagine the stress and fear you're going through. Know that we are all pulling (and most of us actively praying) for Finneas and you!

Best wishes for Finneas, your family and you.  You are all in my prayers though I think he has the fight in him to beat this all on his own.

That jacket looks great on Finneas.

My wife is a pediatric oncology nurse at Mott. I have no idea how she does it. And I am amazed at how strong the families and kids that go through this are. Makes me feel guilty for complaining at all about my job or troubles deeaing with my healthy kids.

So happy he is responding well to the treatments.  Definitely with you on this.

I admire the collective healing energy that your family and your son specifically are putting into this fight. I, along with many others here and elsewhere, are sending you more positive energy towards the continued effort. It's working, and it's pretty awesome to see that. Thank you for sharing.

My wife and I will be adding our prayers to yours, RBJ. Praying that the shock and awe of the doctors will continue and that the chemo side effects will be mitigated. Grace and peace to your family and especially little Finneas.
