I have been to a few games where the place has gotten pretty damn loud ..... but only for a little bit. As for the old don't cheer, sit down, wheres my croche needle fans, I go with two of them everytime. They sit there and complain that people are standing up or booing the oponents. And they absolutely hate the "Who cares" chant during introductions. The Big House = 20,000 fans cheering & 90,000 spectators watching

i thought that was like a 90s small town high school basketball crowd fad, or something the maize rage does, basically the same thing.

I've been to games at every Big 10 school, the consistently loudest place is always Wisconsin.

I'd really like to know how loud Michigan Stadium could get if everyone actually made noise. A lot is made over the shape of the stadium, and while it doesn't help, I bet most of the reason it's so quiet is simply no one between the 20's makes noise. Unfortunately, we don't have 107K students to attempt this experiment.

esipp, they only announce 11 starters of each team. The who cares thing is pretty low brow. We have all probably done it, but there is nothing special about it. The key play thing is stupid if it prevents people from yelling. I have a hard time saying whether or not the noise from between the 20s is an issue with stadium design or crowd apathy. I'm sure its a function of both. But I sit close to midfield and there are times it seems loud, but I'm usually the one making the noise, so I have a hard time judging. I'm looking forward to the new structures and the forward sloping glass fronts to assist in making the stadium louder.

I think they now announce all 22 starters for Michigan. I'm not sure if they announce all of the starters for the visitor.
