Damn "extra benefits" costing tOSU too much money. Basketball team is still probably paying for the 2006 class with Oden, Conley, and Cook.

It's okay, Santonio Holmes can help single-handedly with his superbowl bonus. "The gift that keeps on giving."

well, I would imagine that with the 3yr $15 Million Pryor signed for and the continued "Keep Marice Clarett Quiet Fund," and the Doug Worthington Cadillac Escalade;;;;;;;;;;;;;;I can see where THE ohio state university went in the Red.

most athletic programs (college) are in the red. right? football and basketball pave the road for all of the other sports that don't really bring in revenue.

"Extra benefits", maybe.
Or it could be the fact that since they field more varsity sports than any school in the nation, so when the economy goes in the shitter, and people don't buy basketball tickets, they are more vulnerable to having their costs out-weigh their revenue.

That's a completely logical answer, and not one I choose to endorse. I'm going with the "Extra Benefits" route. That answer is a lot more fun for me, and everybody else.

Put me in with the "extra benefits" faction. Somebody has to pay for the hookers, Escalades, "tutors," and "jobs" available to OSU athletes.
Soon, they'll be longing for the days when all it took to keep a QB happy was Earle Bruce taking him to the racetrack and placing a few bets for him.
