TomVH: (Video) Washington DC Alumni Event
Thanks to MGoUser JMCWannaB for sharing these videos from the UofM Alumni Event in Washington DC. Here's the Q&A, here's the initial speeches from Brady Hoke, Red Berenson, and John Beilein.
Now I just need to build up some points so I can post like a big boy.
Nah, you got people to do that (and TomVH no less). Here's a fake one anyway.
You and me both
Thank you.
Thanks for the videos. Much appreciated.
"Its just Ohio, just ohio"
Brady just makes me happy... that is all. Thanks
That intro is going to be my new signature.
Damn.. those Q&A questions got pretty rough.
we already knew this, at least in the strong rumor sense, but for those that aren't listening to everything, Dave Brandon confirmed that a proposed $14 million renovation of Yost is going before the Regents the next time they meet.
He also had some interesting comments about recruiting, his views on it and his involvement in it.
"...we will have a kicker this year. And we're gonna tackle."
Thanks for posting this. I'll be attending the event in NY tonight. Will try to update everyone tonight or tomorrow on what happens.
How great it is to hear from DB that you need more than the skills to play at Michigan. Its about character. Could be just talk, but from the interviews we have heard from Tom and Sam Webb, I got to believe it to be true.
Darn, I was working on posting my video to youtube! Would've had it up last night, except my last clip was more than 15 minutes long and youtube wouldn't let me upload it, and I couldn't get software to work that split it in two, yada yada. Anyway, I'm glad somebody was able to post this even if I missed out on the MGoSplendor and MGoAdulation.
Other questions asked that weren't in the video included that I can recall:
--Helmet stickers, which we all know by now is "no."
--Darryl Stonum's status, which was promptly shot down by Brandon and Hoke, saying they would not discuss an individual player's status on the team).
--Will wee see more games like the Alabama game in Dallas next year. I asked this and got the answer I figured Brandon would say that it's a one-off deal and they're not looking to play neutral site games, which is legit because we have the Big House and want to host as many games there as possible. I followed up with asking about "we'll have tickets right?" and he didn't bite on that, saying "tickets are always an issue" and it got a laugh.
I want to say someone asked about Maui, but don't remember the context.
What did you mean by "we'll have tickets right?"
Were you referring to the neutral site game in dallas, or Big House tickets?
It was my follow up to asking about whether the neutral-site game was just a one-time thing. I think with the Big House, Brandon said that once a substanial waiting list is built up, they're going to try and enclose one of the stadium's ends so it's at the same level of the suite/press box towers.
Louis Iglesias, a sales consultant for the Dallas Cowboys and a U-M alum, is selling suites (not individual tickets) for the game. His email is [email protected].
& JMCWannaB! Slept like a baby with visions of Coach Hoke pointing at people in my dreams and saying, "Good Evening?! Championships?! Years?! Beat?!" My wife even said she thought she could make out that I answered those a few times throughout the night. Awesome!
The last question asked at the DC alumni recpetion Q & A was by a young lady who is a U.S. Army vet. She inquired as to whether Hoke would be going overseas like some other college coaches have done to support our troops. Hoke said he was actually offered a late invite by Air Force's coach to go this week, but obviously plans to come out to the East Coast for the alumni events were already made. But Hoke said he's definitely interested and planning on going overseas to support the troops. And of course, he, Brandon and the coaches thanked the lady for her service to our country and she rightfully got a round of applause.
