Today's Bracket Matrix Update Just Dropped - Michigan 3rd 10 seed

Submitted by True Blue 9 on March 9th, 2022 at 7:49 PM

Just wanted to give people a heads up that today's Bracket Matrix update just posted (it always posts in the evening). Here are the highlights:

  • Michigan is in 127 of 128 brackets & listed as the 3rd 10 seed
  • Not counting conference champions, we are 7 spots above the cut line
  • Something to keep in mind, two of those 7 teams below us had horrible losses today: Wake Forest and Xavier. Even if we were to lose to Indiana, they each had Q3 losses today and would have zero chance to jump us.

Reminder that we're rooting for Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Oregon to lose tonight. Going to be a REALLY interesting update on the Matrix tomorrow. Go Blue! Beat the Hoosiers!

I’ve seen this team play really well at times, so it’s not that crazy to think they can make it to the conference championship game. If they do, I will be cheering for Wisconsin to make it there as well.

I don’t see a way that Michigan misses the tournament. Regardless of what happens tomorrow.

So I'm curious, at this point how much of a benefit is it for Michigan to keep "moving up" in the seed order? A 10 seed, assuming they get past the first round, almost assuredly earns them a date with a 2 seed in the Round of 32, minus a big upset. And we all know where the 8/9 seed ends up.

Not at all suggesting they should just drop games to stay out of those slots. By all means, go out there and keep winning to try and build some momentum. But unless they go win the BTT, they are probably getting no higher than a 7 seed, and are likely going to have a really tough time just trying to get out of the first weekend.

The 7 seed matchups are far better in my eyes than the 6 seeds, so I’d like to do what it takes to remain on the 10 line (or move up to 10 line). Interesting part of the 6,7s is that we are fairly restricted in who we would likely get paired with given Iowa, Osu, and seton hall are all on those lines. Keeps Bama, lsu as potential 6s and Murray state, Colorado state, and USC as potential 7s.
