Lived in both and you cant tell me the winter is fun. You have 3 pretty snowfall days and the rest is grey mudd slush. I really miss the fall, so I fly up to a game. The ocean has a few more million species of fish. I can wear shorts year round, golf, and enjoy the outdoors here. It is never too hot here with the ocean breeze too. Orlando and some cities blow, because they don't get the breeze, but Florida is awesome. I will be up to deer hunt this fall too.

Your selling points on Florida are basically that it's warm and doesn't snow. Sorry, but there are plenty of other places without the cold weather, yet aren't plagued by all things which are crappy about Florida.

I mean, you can't go anywhere else in the world and be surrounded by the underbelly of society like you would in Panama City or Daytona Beach.

Although technically not a state, Puerto Rico is underrated and beats living in (or visiting) Florida any day.

not mainstream, but Thrillist didn't even mention the world class fisheries Michigan has for half a dozen species....Great Lakes salmon and trout, blue ribbon trout streams, walleye, muskie, smallmouth bass.

The Leelanau Peninsula is one of the most unique places in the country. Couple dozen bodies of water, wineries, great fishing, Sleeping Bear, bike trails, and great summer weather all within a 30 mile radius.  Some places are celebrated with just one of these attractions.
