Three Weeks in a Row?

Submitted by UMichinCA on

For the third time in as many weeks, the #1 team is on the ropes.  Oklahoma is down 9 with 5 min's to go against Missouri.  Has #1 ever lost 3 weeks in a row?

Assuming Mizzou holds, who claims #1?

Who would want it at this point?

I'd take that risk.

at this point, Auburn has beaten 4 teams ranked in the Top 25 - Mississippi St, Arkansas, South Carolina and LSU.

The only ranked team that Oregon has beaten is Stanford.  In fact, Stanford is the only team with a winning record that Oregon has played so far.  The rest of their schedule is ASU (3-4), UCLA (3-4) Washington State (1-7), Portland St (2-5), Tennessee (2-5) and New Mexico (0-7). Total W/L is 17-33.

Here's Auburn's schedule:  Arkansas St (3-5), Miss St (6-2), Clemson (4-3), South Carolina (5-2), Louisiana-Monroe (3-4), Kentucky (4-4), Arkansas (5-2), LSU (7-1).  Total W/L is 37-23.

Oregon is probably going to win out (unless Oregon St. can pull the massive upset at the end of the year), so that leaves one space open.  If Auburn goes undefeated then they will be in, and I think a 1-loss Alabama team could also beat out undefeated teams like TCU/MSU/BSU.  Now, if TCU, BSU and (shudder) MSU go undefeated and a couple of SEC teams get dinged, that will be interesting.
