Wolverine Historian's highlights of the '65 Rose Bowl ass-kicking of Oregon State.

Mel Anthony's Rose Bowl record run of 84 yards is a cutback beauty, made all the more remarkable by the fact that RT Tom Mack accompanied Anthony stride-for-stride for the last 45 yards. At 6-3/250, that was no small feat.

From wikipedia:

"Mack was selected as a first-team All-Big Ten player in 1965 and was inducted into the University of Michigan Athletic Hall of Honor in 2006.

Mack was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the second pick in the 1966 NFL Draft and played at the left guard position for the Rams for 13 seasons from 1966 to 1978. During his NFL career, Mack played in 11 Pro Bowls and appeared in 184 consecutive games, 176 as a starter, over 13 seasons. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999."

Several of Anthony's teammates went on to have notable NFL careers, including Mike Bass, Carl Ward, Frank Nunley, Rick Volk, John Henderson, and Bill Laskey.
